Stupid Guest Tricks

I was just wondering in regards to all you attractions CMS...do you have someone on your rides that really does go above and beyond each day to help/entertain the guests without overly doing so? Or can you think of other great CM's that should have a footprint in Disneyland CM history?

I personally love Bob...the older fellow who helps everyone find good spots for Fantasmic. And his wife is the sweetest thing ever. Unfortunately, I heard from a CM that Bob put his 2 weeks in recently...so we'll have to see if that rumor pans out.

I also loved Joey when I was an AP--I have seen him on Indy, Jungle Cruise, and Mansion (he did the best job there), but he always stayed in character without going overboard and was an absolute delight. Last time I saw him was a couple of years ago. Anyone know him??

Oh love Bob! He's awesome. The guest love him too. He's kind makes the kids happy and always has a few lollipops to give the kids.

It also seems to me in regard to people who go above and beyond they overshadow the rest of us. Example after the land lock people constantly demanded to know where Maynard was in regards to the Mansion. First off I was a new Hire I didn't know what a Maynard was. Second its kind of discouraging to a CM when a guest goes on and on about another cast member cause "you don't do it the way So in so does"

Enough of my rant.

I work with a number of people of Mansion and Pooh that are awesome. Either scare (apporiately) them at the mansion or make the kids smile and giggle at pooh. Keep up the good work!!

I don't know if the gals are still there, but Karen M and Diane W - who were both older than me when I was in my mid-30's and still in attractions - were fantastic with the guests no matter how tough the situation, no matter how high the attendance. Of course, you'd see them tuckered out in the break room rolling their eyes at whatever the latest SGT was, but they could really hold it together onstage. Of course, it helped that both were mothers of Teenagers at that point, and probably had plenty of time to practice at home :D

I quit when I was 36. In attractions, there were only about 15 or so middle aged women, and the majority of them had really bad attitudes and I could see myself turning into one of them, so it was quit or be a witch for life. I tried to transfer into clerical, but after passing all the tests, the company laid off a lot of people in administrative positions. I didn't want to go back to merchandise and stand behind a cash register again for another dozen years (besides, I got to the point where I'd had enough back injuries that I wouldn't be able to lift a fully loaded box of sweatshirts anymore), and although I'd been interested in transferring to security when I was in my 20's, later down the road, the guests were assaulting people. Who wants to deal with that willingly?

I miss all the wonderful people I worked with, but I tell you, I don't miss the b.s. from management, nor do I miss the guests who presume to tell you how to do your job or how your attitude isn't peppy enough for them on that given day.

Aahhhh, gotta love Bob!!! He is such a nice CM. It's funny how he goes up to guests sitting in the standing section of Fantasmic! and goes "It''s stand up time!!! It's stand up time!!!" My favorite memory of Bob is when he plays Simon Says with the kids and goes, "Simon Says to jump up?? Did anyone hear me say, 'Simon Says to come down?'"
