Both Soarin' attractions closed - Stupid Guest trick?

Post by GrumpyFan » Thu May 03, 2012 10:51 pm

I've read elsewhere that both Soarin' attractions at Epcot and DCA closed suddenly today due to a safety issue potentially caused by a "stupid guest trick". Anybody else heard anything about this?

The attractions are both being reported as "closed indefinitely" at this time.

Did a Guest pee in one of the upper seats?

Saw on Board X that the rumor two guests were able to get out of their restraints and were standing in the corner watching the show while the ride was in motion. Could have been very disastrous but wasn't. Soarin' on both coasts are closed indefinitely while they figure out what can be done to prevent this from happening again (and possibly replacing the seat belts) and to retrain the cast.

If it did, it hasn't hit my normal rumor/news streams yet.

Yep, I've heard that both have re-opened today. I guess it was a quick fix or re-train the CMs.

Still curious what prompted it though.

My guess is the guests did the ole sit on the seat belt trick and the CM's just didn't catch it.

Exactly, they slipped out and stood to the side. To me, when a SG pulls a stunt like this they should call security, escort them out of the park and ban them for life. Not only did you endanger yourself but other people. JMO

There is a reason they don't have Cast Members standing in there, except for some very exact places, behind gates. Geez, those SGs could have wound up making the news very easily.

Glad they didn't.
