Best bars on property

I have a cm friend that really never gets out and explores WDW unless I drag her out. Her life revolves around Epcot and her house and nothing else. She actually worked a year at Epcot before she first went to Magic Kingdom.

Anyway, tommorow we are meeting up after work. We really want to relax and go grab a drink somewhere.

Normally, I would pick a spot in Epcot but since she knows Epcot inside and out I would love to get her out and see somewhere else. Any ideas?

I am thinking about one of the Deluxe hotels. Are there any awesome spots.

One idea is checking out the Polynesian, sunset and eventually the water parade.

Any other cool lounges we should check out. Inside or outside the parks doesn't matter since we are both CM

I haven't been but a friend of mine suggested the bar at T-Rex. The bar at Rain Forest in Downtown Disney is not bad either. We sat there on a hot afternoon having a drink. It hit the spot. Those are both quite touristy though. If your timing is right though you probably could grab a drink, wander outside and watch the fireworks and boat parade like you suggested at the Poly. However that is a tad romantic. Any romantic interest in your CM friend? Hmmm...

Poly has to be one of the best places to grab a drink, sit in the night and just relax with a chat. We'll often end our days at Disney there (minus food and wine) just to relax before heading back to our hotel.

Other good bars?
Bongo's at Downtown Disney has decent drinks for a tolerable price but it's a club/restaurant type atmosphere.
Studio Catering at DHS is a good place to grab a beer and people watch.
Dawa Bar at DAK is always a good place to hang out during an afternoon and (again) people watch.
Kimono's at the Swan has a great Sake selection outside of Epcot.
Shark Bar at the T-Rex in Downtown Disney is pretty fun to sit and relax at but it gets packed pretty quickly (as DonutGoddess said) and is a little touristy.

Oh! Forgot to add:
Caribbean Beach Resort, Banana Cabana. Best Pina Colada I've had outside Pureto Rico where they where invented!

I'm rather partial to the lounge at The Wave in the Contemporary. Good service, plus the opportunity to sample the best crab cakes in the World. Not as good a view as the Outer Rim, but still my preference.

Inside the parks (other than Epcot), I fancy Dad's Lounge at the 50s Prime Time Cafe. It can indeed be crowded and touristy, but since the Cat Walk Bar closed, the best on the lot. Too much booze? Order a milkshake to balance out.

if you're up for a rousing good time, head over to the River Roost at the Port to catch Bob on the piano. Definitely touristy, but a fun night out. Other than that I like Victoria Falls over at Jambo House for drink and then a quiet stroll around the grounds.

I second this ! And add that the chili served at the bar at The Wave is outstanding. It was so good I ordered a second bowl !

If you're looking for entertainment to go with your alcohol, I'd recommend Jellyrolls at the Boardwalk ... all-request "dueling" pianos. There is a cover charge for the general public, but cast members get in free. 21+ only.

I haven't been to Jelly Rolls in a dog's age, but I used to love it. Stopped going, though, cause the smoke didn't agree. It is smokeless, now, isn't it?

So, where did you end up taking her?

For next time, I have heard nice things about the Victoria Falls lounge at Jambo House. Unique and exotic surroundings, and if she likes animals you could wander outside and ask one of the CMs about using the night vision goggles to observe the animals. Or enjoy African storytelling around the campfire.

Yes, Jellyrolls is now smoke-free :)
