Today is the last day to ride the Spiderman ride at Universal's Islands of Adventure park in Orlando, Florida. It will be closed for about a month to get it's High Definition make over. Read about it here:

I wonder what Hi Def will do for my motion sickness, LOL. Haven't taken hubby over to Universal yet. Afraid he will like it (know he will like it) and it will interfere with my Disney hobby!

So, I wonder how this impacted the licensing. As I understood it from various articles published when Disney bought Marvel, the license for Spiderman remained so long as the ride remained unchanged. Maintenance didn't count, so are these changes categorized as regular maintenance, or did they have to go to Disney and negotiate a license extension. Just curious. Has anyone heard anything about this aspect of it?

Drat...I'm going for a day to Universal the beginning of April. Hope it is open by then. I know it's supposed to be but we all know how those things go sometimes. That is the only reason for my going to Uni. I'm not a Harry Potter fan so if they don't have it open I am going to have to talk to somebody about how my vacation has been ruined. :D:

Be sure to mention the money you spent and miles you've traveled. It will also help if you have a small child with you so you can loudly explain to him/her how the mean people don't want him/her to have any fun.

And be sure to do it during your last hour in the park on your last day, while making sure everyone knows it was the *only* ride your really wanted to do!

They can make changes to the rides they already have. That was built into the contract.

As far as the maintenance and upgrades go, I think they are pretty much done with the projectors, now it's the physical props that will be changed. I have ridden with the new projectors several times now (throughout the changeover, where some projectors had not been changed yet, and at one point there was one scene where the left eye had been changed and the right had not... very disorienting) and it is amazing. Same thing if you haven't experienced T2 over at Universal. And for those wondering, the 30 ought 6 that they use is very real.
