Test Track Refurb?

Spotted a possible Test Track Refurbishment over on Screamscape yesterday.
What hit's me as odd is the fact their doing it at peak summer season only to re-open for the fall.
While I agree it needs to help just seems a weird time of the year, when they need the rides opens and running.

Any input on this one folks?

Peak summer season??

It's October.

Well Guess that's the end of Test track. They will start this refurb but change their mind and tear it down and build something else.

If you look at the full piece it states the possible timeline being in the summer season. I wonder what on earth their going to be doing with it now.
Although it seems the track will stay, the scenes around it however will be changing drastically.

"Fall 2012 - Test Track Update - Rumor - (10/19/11) Trusted Screamscape sources have confirmed that Test Track will indeed go under the knife, closing down to nearly gut and rebuild almost all of the interior show scenes to create a new revitalized version of the ride experience. Also, I’m happy to report that the junk yard style queue area will also be given a major NextGen style overhaul to add new interactive elements.
(10/11/11) The latest buzz around the internet today claims that Disney is planning a four to five month long closure of Test Track starting in April 2012 which will see it close for the entire summer season of 2012, reopening sometime in September. According to the various rumors, this may tie into those new metallic blue car bodies that have been showing up on the attraction, as Disney and GM may have come to a new sponsorship agreement that will see the theme of the ride updated. According to some rumors, the entire gritty “Test Lab” theme may be dumped in favor of a new more slick presentation showing off the ‘design’ and ‘innovation’ side of GM’s cars, with focus not only on the cars themselves, but the high-tech gadgets going inside. (So can we use OnStar from the Epcot parking lot to get front of line access passes now?) More as it leaks out."

I'm also with February, I want Horizons back too but that's an old complaint with me ;)

Friends of mine at track have told me that they have been told that sections of the que will be closed down while they make the new interactive que. This is to limit the total time the ride is closed up.

There are a couple of the new cars actually running on the track right now.

It sounds like every attaction will be getting an interactive que eventually.

An interactive queue is a good idea and it makes the time waiting in line pass faster.

Or it will make the que line longer. People distracted by stuff and not moving forward.

what is line etiquette on that? Do you go around someone that's playing an inline game? Or do you have to just wait till they are done?

Was recently at Six Flags over Georgia for fright fest. the ques have tvs playing ad's and music videos and what not. They also had interactive games that people could play with their cell phones. Sounds like fun, but people got too involved in the games and the line would get held up.

The wife and I like to dawdle in line. We like to look over every little thing, especially in heavily themed lines like in Test Track or the Tower of Terror. We always make it a point to tell people to go around us.

What's annoying is when they keep going around us even when we stop dawdling.

I have been curious on that one too. If I am, as you say, dawdling looking at details, taking pictures, ect. and tell people to go around me. Then I start moving again, did I just cut in front of those people?

People move along slowly no matter if you have games in the queue or not. Even in a certain dark queue with no TVs, trust me, they move slow and leave gaps.

There are no new cars in TT right now, there are 2 cars that have new skin, but that's it. It might be interesting to have interactive elements that effect the test dummies, like if you play a little game, and the goal is to test a dummy, it would swing the arm down and smash the dummy in the chest. Or what about a driving game where if you crash, glass literally flies through the window and splatters your face?
