Planning Our Next Trip

In true addict fashion we are already planning our next trip to the World. Today I signed us up for the Party for the Senses at the Food and Wine Festival. :eat: Now I am having trouble deciding where to stay. It's only for a weekend so we might be able to do something higher end, but my back's going to hurt no matter what bed I sleep on so I am not sure it's worth it. Decisions decisions.

Stay at the cheapest chain you can find. Why pay top Dollar for a hotel that you are only going to use to sleep at. Many even offer a free breakfast, so you save that money too. I am a Premium Annual Passholder and only live about 20 minutes from WDW, so I can go every day if I want to. ;)

Actually, I can think of a reason to not always go with the cheapest chain. Yes, you are most likely only going to use the room for sleeping. Said sleep could be inhibited if said room has thin walls and noisy neighbors. Mind you, I'm not saying that this will happen at the more economical places, just that it is something to consider.

We pondered staying at your house (think of the money we could save! and only 20 minutes from Disney!) but figured you might object.

Actually, I prefer to stay on property. Yes, I have stayed off property at some pretty nice places for the price of value resort but there's something about a Disney Resort. Most of the staff is nicer. The people seem nicer. And it feels like you haven't left the park. Some people go to Vegas and blow a wad of cash. I go to Disney.

We actually decided on AKL. My husband has never stayed there and I really like the vibe it gives off. If we were going more than 2 nights we would stay some place less expensive. Hell I might even valet the car and check the bags when we get there. Live on the wild side.

Staying at one of the Disney Resorts has it's perks. You can take advantage of the extra magic hours, be one of the first ones to gain admission into the parks and have free transportation to all of the parks.
Make sure you ask the monorail, bus, and boat drivers if they have any transportation trading cards they can give to you. The meal plans are also a great deal. The last time we vacationed at Disney, before we moved to Florida, we used this plan and ate more than our monies worth. We didn't even get to use all of our dessert vouchers.
We will always remember that vacation as the time we ate our way through Disney. ;)

We've done the meal plan twice and we ate way too much both times. However we did get our money's worth. However since you have to pay for it in advance there is something to be said for coming home and not having a huge credit card bill. We did not get the meal plan this time because we are going to the Food and Wine Festival and I bought tickets to the Party for the Senses. I was having a little bit of an anxiety attack because I thought I might be pregnant but I am not *whew!* I do plan on eating and drinking with reckless abandon so maybe it's a good thing I will be staying on property and have transportation back to our room.

DonutGoddess I hope you LOVE AKL, it's our hands down fav; we will be back there in 27 days. Not that we are counting or anything ;)

Take some time early in the day and late at night to just sit and enjoy the lodge. Oh and eat some Zebra domes YUMMY!

Right there with you. I just enjoy not having to deal with a car. I'm perfectly happy on Disney transportation (although I miss the spieling bus drivers). It just feels more relaxed for me to stay at a Disney property.

Love that resort. Second only to our home away from home, Boardwalk. We lived on the wild side once by doing the concierge level for a couple of nights. What a lot of fun that was.

Have a great time at the Lodge.

We're heading down in about 45 days. I can't wait!!!! We decided to stay at Port Orleans Riverside. For us, it just makes sense. There are multiple pools for the kiddies (I swear my kids are part fish) and the food court is awesome. That's the one thing that made us change from the Poly to Riverside....the food. I like the food offerings at Riverside so much better than the Poly.

Well....except for the Dole Whip. I may have to go to the Poly on the day we arrive just to get that!

Have a great trip!!!!! What weekend are you going?
