Stupid Guest Tricks

Hey folks,
I just finished a lovely three day journey into the most magical place on Earth.

I have spent over six years working at a regional park in my hometown, but this trip made me realize how badly I want to work for the Mouse.

Here is my question to you guys:
How easy would it be to get a summer job in WDW next year? I would want to come down in early may and leave in late August/September. What kind of hours might I get?

And, what are the odds that I could get into a department like Attractions or Entertainment? (I study theater at school and do comedy sometimes, so I would love to work the Jungle Cruise or the Great Movie Ride, or even to stage crew at a show). Is it more likely that I would be placed into QSF or Custodial?

Also, does anyone know if the CP does the summer program any more? I haven't seen any information. And, finally, does WDW often have internships during the summer? (I have done management at the park I work at for four years and so I would hope to use that to my advantage).

If you have a car and a local Florida address when you hit Casting, your chances are pretty good at getting hired *somewhere*.

Hours would depend on what role you get. Could be 48/week or more; could be just crumbs.

Well, the first consideration is what positions they have open the day you apply.

Some attractions are possible on a short hire, but not a long-spiel attraction like Jungle Cruise (you need major seniority for a popular role like that anyway). Stage positions are hired through IATSE, and if you aren't already a member, don't bother.

QSF *always* has open roles, Custodial almost always.

Also, does anyone know if the CP does the summer program any more? I haven't seen any information.

For this you would have to go through your Campus Recruiter. We don't have access locally.

And, finally, does WDW often have internships during the summer?

Yes. They are occasionally offered to those who are alumni of the College Program. I'm unaware of anyone getting in without that prerequisite.

My first advice is to contact your Disney Campus Recruiter, as they have all the data about CP openings, including the critical question of the quota for your campus. CPs have a chance at better roles than Seasonal walk-ins.

I have also heard that Seasonal is now being offered only to those who have worked a year full-time or three years part-time. Note that this is a RUMOR! If true, Casting will explain it when you call. Might be able to get them to answer it by phone before you move down here.

Finally, understand that most Florida apartments lease by the year. Any term shorter than six months and the landlord gets hit with a tourism tax. So either have arrangements with long-term roommates, or be prepared to pay hotel prices. Decent pay-by-the-week locations are available, but the price is generally the same as what you'd earn.

That's not always true. My friend got JC with 1 year seniority, and I got GMR with no seniority

Good on ya both! But you two were both full time, no? I still don't think it's very likely, especially for a Seasonal hire.

She was, I wasn't (I got it first as a CP, then was lucky to get FT straight from there).
