All that beer might possibly blur your social vision. Social vision is overrated!

Not just the shows themselves, he also wrote the theme songs to both shows! I seem to recall that as slapsticky as both shows could be, he took them very seriously -- even talking about how the diverse personalities stranded together on Gilligan's Island were analogy for the nations of the world learning to live together in harmony! And yet I appreciated how he was able to poke fun at them later on. He even co-wrote the scripts for the Brady Bunch movies, which were parodies as much as homages.

Schwartz didn't spend his last years idle. He was living here in Central Florida, and wrote "Gilligan's Island: The Musical", and it's first performance was in the Walt Disney Theater at the Magic Kingdom. Staged by STAGE and viewed only by cast and friends, it was at least as good as the TV show.

Taking the stage after the show, he asked, "Whaddaya think, is it ready yet? I think it needs a little more work, but I've got the time and interest. We'll see if I've got the talent!"

Yeah, I think he did.
