Scotty (James Doohan) is behind Leonard Nimoy and Nichelle Nichols. I used to have a big crush on Chekhov when I was a kid.

Actually, there have been several ships named Enterprise throughout history. There was one during the Revolutionary War, and one during World War II.

As crazy as it is, I'd rather have us in the hands of the Russians than the Chinese.

Anyone who is friends with me on FB knows my passion for the shuttle program. I would shed a tear watching each launch, and was happy my two girls sat and watched the last one with me.

I was lucky enough to see her for a second as she screamed her final time for the stars. Little Wallaby saw her for a full thirty seconds. I was rather jealous.

Sadly, I didn't - it was too cloudy up here in Jacksonville.

I remember the first launch after the loss of Columbia - it was the 4th of July, and we were watching our town parade, which runs along a road that parallels the St. Johns river. At the end of the parade, the police car at the end announced that the shuttle had just launched...and we had a perfect, almost unobstructed view over the river...beautiful.

I'm afraid that our nation is a lesser place without a manned space program.

Interesting side note, you can tell by looking at it that Enterprise was never designed for reentry. It has no tiles, just a Fiberglass body.
