Stupid Guest Tricks

DonutGoddess, if you keep saying/praying that, you'll do fine.

We are back home. Somehow I managed to take it easy. I think it was because my husband's niece and nephew were there so I was able to send him off to play with them while I relaxed at the resort or went shopping.

We also had an awesome lake view from our room at the Pop Century, at the back end of building 6 in the 70's section. We could see some of the construction across the lake but who cares. I took a chair outside and made my own balcony, LOL.

Stupid guest highlights from our trip:

Tram operator: "No further boarding on this tram. No further boarding on this tram. Please stay behind the yellow line."
*Guests continue to keep getting on the tram.
Tram operator: "Thanks for listening! You guys are awesome!" (He was really awesome for not losing it.)

My ears are still not right from the small child that screeched for no reason on Tom Sawyer's Island and the girls from Paraguay who screamed the WHOLE time on Thunder Mountain Railroad.

And to top it off a stupid guest in the ladies room yelling at her daughter through clenched teeth "You just peed on yourself! You're FIVE years old! Don't you know any better?!? What am I supposed to do now?!" Ummm... Hello? She's only 5 and you're the adult, but I guess you haven't figured that out.

We saw a lot more than that but we prefer to focus on the positive.

I guess I should mention that I had my stupid guest moment last year in April. I was over 4 mos pregnant, hot and uncomfortable and the cast member at the Great Movie Ride kept insisting that two more people could fit in the row. So I told my husband we were getting off the ride and made them let me out. Better to make a little scene than barf on a stranger and ruin someone else's vacation. Just my opinion.

I think some of the lake views at Pop Century are better than the views from a lot of the Deluxe resorts. :p:

DonutGoddess, "SG moment"? are you kidding? I nominate you for guest of the year for heeding the queasiness and asking to leave to spare your fellow guests that potential experience! I wish more people had that much sense (and sounds to me like you're a very smart guest, as Wallaby said if you pray not to be an SG you won't likely be!) Seriously- thank you for doing that.

As far as the mother and daughter in the bathroom... :mad:

I do not understand parents and kids having to go potty and not checking on them FREQUENTLY.

Last year (this week exactly) when I was at WDW, I was getting on a bus to go to the Studios and there was a little boy doing 'the dance'.

His father and brother and sister were waiting for the bus, and I see the mother start to walk off to look for a bathroom but then she saw the bus was about to leave and came back. "We have dinner reservations at Cape May and they gave us wrong directions how to get there." she explained as we sat down on the bus, and the poor little boy (only about four) was next to tears as he tried to hold on.

Being a Mom myself, I did all I could do to try to distract the little guy- I got him talking.

Fortunately for everybody involved (not the least of which the little boy- who would want a memory of having an accident on a Disney bus in front of everyone?) I got him talking about Lego, and Star Wars (then Lego Star Wars) in which I am well versed as a parent and then started telling them about the Jedi Academy show.

I am happy to say that the bus ride was uneventful, he made it. As we were heading down the steps, he said to me "Come with us!"

I asked what he meant, and he said to me, all one word, "comewiffustadinnerplease!" Cutest thing ever. I laughed and said to the Dad, "Sir your son just asked me out and that's the best offer I've had in a long time." I told the boy to say hi to Minnie for me but that I couldn't go because there wouldn't be room at the table.

He was so sweet, and at the end I was really angry with the parents. What they put that poor child through in worries of being a little late for a dinner on VACATION.

But what you overheard was worse.

If it'd been me, I swear, I'd have been tempted to ask the mother to wait a minute- that I'd be right back- then I'd have gone into the nearest gift shop and bought the kid a Princess dress and new underthings.

They sell those in the parks for a reason, people...because of stupid parents who do not remember their children are children and have TINY bladders!

Sorry for the rant- but not the only time I've seen/heard this and it kills me every time.

Then there was the woman who ratted out her sister in law for making their little kid go in a cup...in a crowd...so they didn't lose their spot for the fireworks. . .

My sister completely agrees with you. She went on Mission Space and was seated next to a father/child combo. The child was pleading with his father not to make him go on and that he thought he'd be sick. His pleas fell on deaf ears. My sister told the father, "Sir, if your child is sick on me during this ride, we are going to have a problem." Father and child promptly exited the ride.

On our first family vacation to Hawaii my wife decided we would go somewhere to do something every day. One of out trips was a cruise out to Molokini, a collapsed crater south west of Maui. The trip back was into the wind and some pretty big rollers.

My wife and the oldest daughter immediately started chumming but they had the sense to get to the rail at the stern. The middle kid headed to the bow where he and the other nut jobs were screaming with delight every time a wave washed over the bow.

That left me and the youngest daughter. She was sitting on my lap and doing pretty good but she started complaining that her teeth hurt. I'm trying to figure out why her teeth were hurting when she suddenly ***YACKED*** all over the woman's feet who was sitting across the aisle from us. Luckily the waves washing over the bow were flowing down the deck and flushed her feet clean pretty fast. She didn't seem to be too upset.

So, the moral of my story is, if you're doing something that could upset a stomach and your kid comes up with an oddball complaint, point his or her oral orifice at a window or over the rail. Fast!
