Marshal Matt Dillon Will Not Be Down For Breakfast

James Arness, the towering actor best known for portraying Marshal Matt Dillon, the strong and commanding symbol of frontier justice on the landmark TV western series "Gunsmoke," died Friday. He was 88.

I watched that show for years.

Saw this when I logged on. Still like Gunsmoke reruns. 20 years is an awesome run. John Wayne did an intro before Gunsmoke began. Just saw the video. I didn't know Wayne gave Arness such high praise. R I P Marshal Dillon.

I've never actually seen an episode of Gunsmoke, but my mother watched as a child and vowed to name her first daughter after Amanda Blake (the actress who played Miss Kitty), because she thought it was such a unique name. Unfortunately, I was born in '81, when every mother in America decided to name their daughters Amanda, too.

Not that that has anything to do with the topic at hand...
