Star Tours: The Adventures Continue commercial

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Yes, I am aware that the Disneyparks Youtube channel has the WDW version of this commercial, but to me, Disneyland will always be number one.

I'm riding on May 28!

I don't know about that. WDW is just as good as DL

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!

I am aware that there are other opinions. That is kind of why I said "to me" ;)

Was there something wrong with me saying; "to me, Disneyland will always be number one." ? (serious question) Am I not allowed to have my opinion?

I did not insult WDW in any way, shape, or form. I certainly hope that you did not take what I said personally. As I was hoping not to head into that direction. We are all adults here after all.

Its just when you have seen as many WDW fans put down Walt's original park as much as I have, you start to get a chip on your shoulder and feel like you have to defend it whenever possible.

After all, nobody ever says "I don't like WDW, I like DL better" many WDW fans are always putting down Disneyland, stuff like "The castle is too small!" "The park is too small" despite the fact that its Walt's original park, the only one he ever walked in and enjoyed. A lot of people just don't have any respect.

I have had a greater appreciation for Disneyland ever since I learned this;
http://sites.google.com/site/theorigina ... da-project

"Walt Disney was not able to obtain funding and permission to start work on his Florida property until he agreed to build the Magic Kingdom first. Disney passed away before the Magic Kingdom opened and his vision of Epcot (the original project) was not realized."

"Walt did not want to repeat himself by building another Disneyland. He wanted to create something entirely different: a community where people not just played in, but lived in as well. This was the beginning of EPCOT."

"Walt never wanted to make a "sequel" to Disneyland, always stating that there will always be one Disneyland. When Walt presented his ideas to the Board of Directors, they were skeptical. They wanted assurance that people would come to visit this "Disney World". What they wanted was a surefire hit: a Disneyland-style park.
Walt initially objected, but eventually relented, and he used the park to his advantage. He put the theme park in the northmost corner of the Florida property. Disney wanted everyone to experience the rest.
"

So, knowing that Walt felt highly of his original park, and that he only wanted to build EPCOT, and not a magic kingdom park in Florida, makes me really appreciate Disneyland.

I'm sorry for getting into all that. I did not intend for this thread to turn into this. Next time I won't say that Disneyland will always be number one to me.

...The only reason why I created this thread was to highlight the Disneyland commercial because I am very excited about the new Star Tours.

Before I forget, I have to mention that I have been to the WDW Resort. Its fun and I enjoyed it. But the original Disneyland will always hold a special place in my heart. That's all.

I apologize if I sounded harsh before, but I had to make myself clear.

Disneyland is my favorite park, however, I must say that the entrance at the WDW version of Star Tours is so much cooler, then when you exit, you're in Tattooine! Now, I know that the theme wouldn't really work as well at DL, but come on, an AT-AT!

Its cool alright. Although its a shame that is "supposed to be" a movie set, and not "real". :(

I have to say, I love the new marquee at Disneyland, its got a great new lighting pattern at night.

The ride itself isn't half-bad either!

RIP Bud Hurlbut.

You will be missed.

Oh, that reminds me, at Disneyland they put the big X wing back into the Star Trader.
