SKYNET becomes aware at 8:11PM tonight. For those of you on the east coast, it's too late.
James Cameron issued the following statement:
"Kyle Reese said in the first film that it was only 'one possible future.' Clearly, not the one we're in. Maybe Kyle, Sarah, John and the T-800 changed things enough to steer us away from that possible future."
Cameron adds, "Now instead of nuclear war and the machines taking over, we need to worry about global climate change. And the machines taking over. With everybody going through their lives bent over their Blackberries all day long, you could even argue the machines have already won."

Is this following the timeline of the TV show, or the movies? The movie Skynet became self-aware at 2:14 AM on August 29, 1997.

It was also the second night of Passover.
Why is this night different from all other nights? On all other nights Skynet does not become self aware even once...
It was also the release date for the video game Portal 2. Coincidence? I think not.

No but I just finished watching walk-through videos of it on Youtube.
Oh, and I got the first Portal the other day through Steam (actually bought the entire Orange Box but so far have only downloaded Portal). Quite fun.
