This one is hitting the web today. First saw it at Disney Dispatch. This is a really smart guest who used phone tracking software and some very smooth Disney security to catch a thief red-handed. They chased the perp across Bay Lake from WL to the Magic Kingdom and nailed him - he's the SG, of course.Yes, that's my wife's iPhone

Well done to both you and those cast members who nailed the thief ! Had you not been so proactive in tracking the phone, that guy could still be ruining peoples vacations ! Who knows how many other victims he has ripped off.

I just hope that the rec manager whose personal phone was used in the tracking doesn't get burned for having it on him at the time !

Wasn't me, Delsdad, sorry if I wasn't clear. But when I saw the story, I knew that the crew here at SGT would get a big kick out of the thief getting what he deserves!

Great job in getting this guy. I'm going to wager that most of the thefts that happen are due to guests leaving valuables unattended like this. I think people believe it wont happen because they are at a Disney park. They forget that anyone can buy a ticket.

Very cool, good use of technology. I'm glad they got the full support of Recreation and Security cast.

Well, he did have a number of other cell phones and the like in his bag. I bet he was making the rounds of resorts and went through a number of guest's bags when they weren't looking.

The rules on cell phones have been relaxed over time. It is now allowable for CMs to have their phones on them as long as they are in their pocket and turned off or on silent. They must also stay in their pocket while on stage except in an emergency. Also, the rules on cell phones have never been as strict for management anyway.

IMO this was a legitimate use of their personal cell phone while on stage and will be overlooked by the powers that be.

This happened at a resort so not even a ticket is required. Anybody can get into the resorts easy enough if you know how and I bet this guy knows all the ways around. I get the feeling he's experienced at doing this sort of thing. I doubt it was his first time stealing from unattended bags and I doubt it'll be his last.

The victim should have also thanked Steve Jobs and his crew.

Did anyone else wonder why it was mentioned more than once that all of his property was given back, except the "VISA debit card"?
