reminds me of the "subliminal" adds that movie theatres were supposed to have used by splicing into the coming attractions reel. they would flash "buy popcorn" or "buy candy" for a few frames, not enought time for you to percieve it, and it would just appar as a "flash" on the screen.
I heard about that when I was a movie projectionest a long time ago, but never ran across the supposed film that was spliced in.
found out later it was just a bunch of hooey.

My problem is that after a little while, I perceive consciously the advertising. A much better way of doing it is to put the message in the background, in a way that the subconscious mind has time to see it (almost instantly, but it does take a moment) but presented in a way the conscious mind doesn't perceive it.
The best way I've seen this done was when British mentalist Derren Brown took a lady into a toy shop and had her, without him following her, select a toy. When she came out of the store, he had a giant version of the toy waiting for her as proof that he knew what she would select. Most people watching the show were thinking of the same toy, a stuffed giraffe, because he had used NLP, gestures that the conscious mind would not perceive, and decorations around the store, to plant the idea in her mind.

Speaking of subliminals, anyone else here know the works of Mike Jitlov?
