I really wish they'd quit flogging this franchise.

It wasn't always talking dogs. *Sighs.* These talking "Buddies" are the heirs to the Air Bud legacy... it makes me sad.

the only talking dogs (and cats) movies we liked (not enough to buy them, only netflix)
was the "cats and dogs" movies. (and once is enough)
And I noticed that the grumpy pups would pay attention during some of the activity on screen.

I always liked "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey."
That was pretty classic.

Homeward Bound was pretty cool, but this Buddies series is just blah. There was a video on YouTube about a guy reviewing the Santa movie, and he was saying the dogs look like they are sedated while talking, and that's a pretty accurate description.

Homeward Bound was great! (the book, too) However, that movie was more about "hearing" the animals thoughts then them talking. I loved the actors they chose for that movie and the animals were just beautiful.
I also agree that Cats and Dogs (the first one; still haven't seen the second) was okay, but I wouldn't buy it - just rent.

Guess I'm not up on my Disney flicks. I totally thought you were talking about this series:
http://www.amazon.com/Santa-Paws-1-Nich ... 0590624008
and were looking for one of the books for a Christmas gift. :reading:
Can't handle most of those movies where the animals have been photo shopped to look like they're talking, although the first
Cats and Dogs movie was tolerable enough I've actually sat through it. I love both movie versions of
The Incredible Journey (and loved the book long before I saw either movie), but they're both kind of surreal because the animals are so clearly feeling or responding to something very different from what they're supposed to.
:cat4:
They're better cast than
The Three Lives of Thomasina, though, where the main cat is a mackerel tabby while another one used in a lot of long shots is a classic with a clear whorl on the side. Not that I noticed this as a kid, but the first time I saw it as an adult kinda knocked me out of the story.
