Sadly some wild-eyed yahoos decided to take matters into their own hand 9 years ago and messed it up for damn near everyone else.I truly hope history does not repeat it self.

They still have to follow TSA screening procedures. So while they are playing with Mr. Winky, they will probably be nicer about it.

That's what I like about it. I don't have a problem with most of the policies, I just hate the way many of the agents treat you. If it's someone from a private firm who can get fired for abusing their power than I am sure I will be treated better most of the time. We might also be able to have intelligent agents who can figure out that you aren't going to hijack a plane with a compass(math...for drawing circles)(true story).

I have a huge problem with pretty much all of the policies. It's security theater, and hardly any of it actually helps.

I certainly won't be flying anywhere until this nonsense with the strip scanners and the groping dies down. Fortunately, I have the option to not fly - not everyone is so lucky.

Nothing like gettin more 'action' at the airport,than all your years in high school. ;)

All this 'securuty' is the reason I really don't want to fly anymore. And I work at an airport. Not in security though. Thank goodness. I would not want to have to pat down any passenger let alone the stupid ones.
What gets me is that terrorists never have to attack us again. All they need to do is to try and send fake bombs through and the TSA goes crazy implementing new security measures. New measures = more money being spent and more angry passengers = terrorists winning anyway.

It really is all about economics. With asymmetrical warfare a small single event (tightey whitey bomber) can generate millions of dollars in response. So the next step is to be proactive and try to head off single events that cause millions o be spent in response. But even that costs money. TSA, NSA, CIA, drones, humint, etc.

One way or another everyone is paying to being protected through taxes or when using some companies product. How much is added to each ticket to cover the cost of park entry security?

I got the old pat down on my last trip back from Orlando in October. It seems that I kept triggering the metal detector. They couldn't figure out why and I sure didn't know why. Anyway, the guy was really very polite and courteous about it. He would tell me ahead of time what "area" he would be checking out and did it as quickly as possible. He tried to keep a casual conversation going during the process, turns out his mother was from the town in Vermont that I live.

Anyway, it wasn't at all uncomfortable or embarrassing, at least to me. Turns out that my drivers license contains a special strip (it is enhanced to use when crossing the Canadian border and not need to bring my Passport every time) and that is what was triggering the detector.
