(Kudos to lady_urike for this)

This could be the perfect advertisement for Universal Orlando Resort.

Just saying.

I find it hilarious, especailly the kid that says, "I want to go to Dick's House!" Like, that is much more fun than Disney!!!

Apparently they were told that's where they were going, possibly a friend or relative they care to see. So i get kid 2's reaction, kid 1 looks to be about two years old so, meh, she might be hungry or just looking for attention. Kid 3 (boy? girl? meh whatever) is a tween. The trendy and cool tween cares not for adult overlord's decision and decides to go against overlord's plan while not being able to leave will result to mocking the entire trip.

Plus, they've been driving all night...etc.

I remember the story my parents have told us (a bajillion times) about our first trip. We went to a Disney Store in one of the malls where they went to the counter and got the park tickets. Us two kids (my brother hadn't joined the family yet ;) ) were then told that "tomorrow we're going to Disney World!" definitely better than "we're gonna go visit Dick in 2 months!" followed by "We're in NC ona layover and surprise we're going to Disney World and not Dick's!"

If you want the kids to celebrate your change of plans... you gotta make the first destination undesirable.

Like the dentist.

I may have mentioned this before,(or was it over at board X ?),Years ago we told our kids and my oldest son's friend we were going fishing for 3 days. The morning of departure,I handed them tickets for Disneyland. Everyone freaked out except my youngest son,he got pissed,he wanted to go fishing.

We had driven to Palm Springs for a few days and our next stop was Disneyland. We hadn't told the kids we were going. On the drive to Anaheim all three kids had gone to sleep so when we pulled into the generic Residence Inn they had no idea where we were.

They didn't find out until the next morning when they got the first sight of the park from the hotel bus. Talk about a surprise.

My 7 year old was furious at us last December over a surprise trip. We left right from school on a Thursday and headed to the airport. We told her we were going to a party, but not where. She got more and more upset at us until we had to fill her in at the airport on our plans. I presented her with the party map (thanks to the kind Cm here who shall remain unnamed) .When she found out we were on our way to Mickeys Very Merry Christmas party, she was loughs that we didn't tell her beforehand. It took a couple of days for her to cool off! She wad upset that she had not been able to tell her friends she was going to be away, and they had made plans for something at recess

I had expected most kids would rather go to WDW than have recess at school !

Honestly I would have been pretty cheesed off as a kid if I was taken on a surprise trip and not informed until after we left home. If I was only supposed to be away from home for a few hours, and then found out I wasn't going to see home for a few days, it would have been very upsetting, regardless of where we were going.

But I'm not "normal" so... yeah...
