The first link is from ages ago... it's an ad for Zelda on the Famicom, i.e. the Original Nintendo. That's not "weirder every day" that's _OLD_.
And in that second video, no, actualy it's not for kids... it's an add for a construction company.

Rule of thumb: In Japan, just because it's cute, doesn't mean it's for kids. See also: Kawaii.
(And that last creature is a Tanuki (Racoon Dog.) They actually do have pretty big noticeable testicles, though they get exaggerated even further in their roles in myths and stories.)
