I'm ready to head over to casting to see about seasonal employent, and was wondering when they're open ... For instance, can I go by over the weekend, or should I work it out for a week day? Any clue on their hours?

My neighbor gave me her cast infomation to put as a reference, and told me I should call before going in to schedule an appointment. However, when I called, they said there was nothing to do there and everything should be done via the website. Of course, the neighbor said absolutely to go in, as it's much better to do it that way. Any advice from here?
This is for WDW, of course, not DL.

If the Casting Center says to go to the web site, that's probably the better idea.
Back when I was cast, the first audition was by telephone. Anyone who showed up was seated in a little phone booth and told to keep dialing until they got through.
It would not surprise me at all if Casting had gone to an all-web approach these days.

Indeed, it went to an web-based process around the same time WDW introduced the Web-Based Interview from DLR (about a year or so ago-ish). If you go to the Casting Centre they'll just put you on one of their computers to access the website.
You can visit
http://www.waltdisneyworld.jobs for Hourly Guest Service Positions and/or
http://www.disney.com/careers for Office & Technical and Salaried positions.
You will submit your application online and someone from Casting Services/Professional Recruitment will contact you if there's a role they feel you'd be suited for.
