CBC News: Flight attendant arrested after in-flight tirade

While this was completely inappropriate and uncalled for, can anyone who works in Customer Service anywhere say that they've never thought about doing something similar, even if for only an instant?

I can understand why. :)

His reaction may have been a bit crazy, but the passenger should not have been so rude and inconsiderate.

Yeah...I remember when cast actually partied to celebrate that female guest get jail time after assaulting another guest in the queue at Tea Cups.

Yup...impromptu parties in a lot of areas..and a few themed parties when off the clock.

As much as I might have *wanted* to do something like this (though within the confines & environment of my own job, not on an airline), I haven't, and I don't think he should have either.

I like this response/reaction from a flight attendant named Heather Poole. http://www.gadling.com/2010/08/10/galle ... r-escapes/ This is from the end of the article--all of which is quite good:
As much as we'd all might like to go out in a blaze of glory, the reality is this flight attendant cost the airline a lot of money. Not just because it costs a hundred thousand (at least!) to repack a slide, but because now the airplane has to be taken out of service and who knows how many flights will now have to be canceled. After drinking those two beers, I wonder if the flight attendant will realize he will now go down in aviation history as the guy who abandoned ship because he got hit in the head with a handbag? Now it's buh-bye job, buh-bye 401K, hello criminal record. Where the heck does one go from there?

While I definitly sympathize with his situation, how many other innocent passengers at the airport and on flights that might have gone off on this plane did he disrupt. THEY weren't giving him grief, and I bet a lot of them were sympathetic as well. It was a pretty stupid move. If he gets his job back (heard on the radio that may be a possiblity due to popular sentiment) it has to be on a STRICT probationary basis. You don't want OTHER idiots doing similar stunts.

The wrong thing to do, but he can plead head injury/temporary insanity ;)
At least he didn't hit the rude passenger who assaulted him.
