I definitely feel for the guy. Because I had something happen to me when I was a CM that was certainly not "me", and it was the only time any such thing happened. Not as dramatic as his, though, and I've never told anyone before since I'm pretty embarrassed of it.

I was at Small World front load, and CDS crashed, and crashed bad. (Later I saw managers on floor in the hallway where the computer was, with huge pieces of paper, desperately writing down where everyone was, and trying to figure out rotations and breaks.) But due to the crash, people were stuck where they were.

I was particularly unlucky, since I was due for my lunch, and they somehow forgot about me at first, and I was stuck there for HOURS, and of course it was an extremely crowded day. I couldn't really leave to get to a phone to call anyone, as it was super busy. Plus, I am the type of person who didn't like to complain, especially when I knew how crazy it was at the moment, and as far as I knew at the time, everyone was stuck. So I was toughing it out, but my nerves were getting more frayed by the second. I happened to get a long string of SGs, people who weren't paying attention to me, didn't know how many in their groups, didn't go where I told them to, etc. Then I had like 10 people in a row who all wanted to sit in the front. I had this huge line for the front, and the rest of the boat was empty! I was trying to fill it up in a hurry, and next in line is an elderly couple, who orders me, "We will sit in the front!" It was mostly her attitude that made me snap. I pretty much snapped back at them, telling them to sit somewhere else, that it didn't matter where they sat, and I was definitely rude about it.

I regretted it the instant it came out of my mouth, I knew it was out of line. The couple did just go and sit where I told them, and a coordinator was coming down the stairs at the time. I knew I was in trouble, but she just kinda laughed and said, "Been here awhile, have you?" I said, "Yes, I need to get out of here before I really lose it." She was there to relieve me, so that was good. I never heard anything else about my outburst, but I have always felt bad about it. But at the time, I don't think I possibly could have controlled my temper, my nerves and patience were just so completely shot. And I am usually a VERY patient person, who never got any complaints from anyone. I think that's why I didn't get in trouble, they knew that the angry outburst wasn't "me", but rather a product of the extreme circumstances. I don't think anyone should judge the flight attendant, since we don't know what was going on to make him get to that point. This was probably a one-time thing where he lost control, a "straw that broke the camel's back" sort of thing.

You know what? We all pay for the sinners. This is a lesson to learn even if you always been nice to the flight attendants. People need to learn to treat others with respect and kindness. People seemed to learn the lesson when it cost them something, be it in terms of money or time. I'm glad he did it and let this be a lesson for those who forget their manners at home.

LucyintheSky I totally get what you are saying. We all have a limit to our patience and sometimes people find a way to break the point and get us going. Paying money for something doesn't mean you are allowed to be rude.

A Guest told a CM yesterday that "The world would be a better place if your mother would have bashed your head in with a rock when you were a baby!" because he told her she needed to hold the baby on the ride v. wear it in a bjorn.

At some point we, as a society, need to stop mistreating people in the service industry. While this guy's actions weren't very smart, they're understandable when someone's put under constant stress and abuse like this.

I know we all had a good laugh about it the next morning. He is my hero only because how many days have you felt like telling Guests off, grabbing a couple beers and Sliding down the Emergency Exit from all the chaos?! We even came up with a new "hand signal" for when SGs get you stressed out, it looks stupid but it makes you and your teammates laugh a litle. stand with two hands in the air like your holding beer can in each, lift one leg in the air bent at the knee then kinda squat the other leg (so you look like your jumping onto the slide). Other new saying is "Dont make me inflate the slide"

A lIllte Corny Yes but relly it makes the dy go better!

There is big line between thinking it and doing it. He crossed the line.
Please, this guy was no where near a hero. He was a spoiled brat that had some type of break down. Now it is coming out his head scar was there at the beginning of the flight. There was no passenger standing in the aisle and getting her bags and thus hitting him.

He endangered everyone on that flight by pulling that stunt with the plane moving. He endangered other flights by walking on the tarmac.

Personally, I think he was burning all day long and pulled this Diva stunt for attention. He certainly has enjoyed the press attention. He deserves to enjoy prison for a few months now.

He won't get a job in the aviation industry again. I hope I don't see him operating a monorail, jungle cruise boat or jungle cruise truck at AK! LOL

That guest needed to be escorted to the park exit and told to only return when they'd learned manners. Sorry...I don't care if you paid a lot of money to come to the parks, that attitude is deplorable. Someone else posted that there need to be consequences for bad behavior. That comment was not just one said out of anger...that was plain abusive and intentionally nasty.

If I were standing behind that guest in line, I would have asked them loudly if it was okay to smash their baby's head in with a rock, since the guest was okay with doing it to someone elses.

Public humiliation sometimes IS necessary to shut down stupid and mean people. Bullies only do it if they know they won't get away with it.

Wow. And this person was allowed to continue their day at the parks? I think, had it been me, I probably would have called my manager or security for a veiled threat. And this woman is a mother?!?! Gods help the child....

No "guest" should be allowed to abuse a CM verbally in that way. However, as we all know-some coordinators and managers are more concerned about their cast than others. A call to one might get the SG a quick exit from the park, a call to another might result in the CM being written up.
