For the TRON: Legacy Panel, guests were both amazed and shocked.

You can read a few bits of the panel here.

Afterward, in true Disney Live Action fashion, there was a secret ending:
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is released May 20th, 2011

Then, some guy named Guillermo Del Toro showed up on stage and said he was directing some movie, "And No, we are not returning Eddie Murphy's phone calls". . . . The REBOOT to the HAUNTED MANSION is coming!

Filming has started in Hawaii. The local TV stations post an occasional still when someone can sneak up on the outdoor sets.

I suddenly have this image of a few of the cast, in full pirate splendor with various blades at the ready, surrounding a poor paparazzi, with one of them ask, "And what would ye be doing with that camera, there, mate?"

Reading the blogs, I love how people are bitching about him leaving "The Hobbit" for "this".

1. Guillermo=Rat, MGM=Sinking Ship.
2. MGM has no money
3. This has been part of the deal that Guillermo had made when Dick Cook was still around.
4. It's Guillermo. It'll be freaky/amazing/scaryinglyfreakishlyamazing no matter what.
5. Hobbit fanboys, get over it. If Bond isn't happening, you sure as hell are not gonna get this movie.

I read about this on the official DisneyParks blog. Very exciting.

This definitely has the potential to have a much scarier tone and better story than their first attempt.

Take two!

Sweet lord that looks awesome!!!!!

Also, did you notice the "Black Hole" poster in the kid's room? A nice nod to another piece of Disney awesomeness.

Ah, I fondly remember seeing Black Hole in the theater. The look of the ship was so ominous & cool, very different from all the sleek, solid, NASA-inspired ships that were standard in SciFi at the time. And the black hole itself looked amazing on the screen. I wish they didn't have V.I.N.C.E.N.T. (why did every semi-cool SF movie or TV show of that era think they had to have a "cute robot"? I'm looking at you, Twikki), but it was a pretty cool flick overall.

Is my memory correct that this was Disney's first PG-rated movie ever?

Because everyone was looking at the success of Star Wars, and saying "We want a piece of the pie!", then would try to (usually badly) copy this and that from that movie. Star Wars had a couple of cute robots (R2-D2 and C3PO), so the producers would insist that their movie had to have a cute robot or two as well.
