WFTV-TV (Orlando, Fla.): Disney Employee Caught Stealing From Guests

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Disney employee is off the job after being charged with stealing from tourists. Investigators say the woman would help visitors check in to Disney's Saratoga Springs and Old Key West resorts, but guests had no idea she was using a device to steal their credit card information.

It was only a matter of time, but still...

She paid $200.00 for the device + 4 sign ins. Sounds more like a gov't employee. IDIOT CM! What was she thinking?

How come it never an airline or resturaunt? It's 'always' Disney. :mad:

Must have been a very small device which fit in her lunch container or purse, & how was the device not caught for 4 months? Stupid question, but I just don't get it.

While I would normally agree with this, normally when one hears about these kinds of things (at least from my experience), it's always something like a Restaurant or a Gasbar. So it's surprising for me to hear of it at a hotel, let alone a Disney hotel.

You can fit a credit card skimmer in the palm of your hand. They make em tiny these days... like the size of a pack of gum.

With an airline purchase, the e ticket number is shown on the statement, and the transaction is much easier to trace as far as who had access to the data.

It does happen at restaurants frequently. In the last few years my visa has been replaced 4 times, just because I had used it at an establishment where other peoples cards had been compromised. Even tho my card never was compromised. The bank just chose to be safe and replace the cards of everyone who shopped at those merchants within the specific time frame. They would not tell us what merchant it was, but one time corresponded with the major data theft at Winners. :beagles:
