OBVIOUSLY something that would have gotten the CM fired

I just saw this on Board X.
However, there is one instance of a "bad" character experience that my family will never forget, even though it happened back in 1994. It was our first trip to WDW, and I was 11, and my brother 9. We saw Mary Poppins in the MK, with a short line waiting to meet her. My brother and I got in line with our autograph books, but when we got to the front, Mary Poppins simply said, "Sorry, it's time for my break." We were stunned; Mary Poppins was on her break and couldn't spare a moment for some children? Though it was clearly something that would have gotten the CM fired, my family thought it was HILARIOUS and still joke about it to this day.

Anyway, that's our only bad experience, and it makes for a great story!
Because obviously going on break is enough to get you fired!

I mean, really! I suppose if they were at the grocery and a lane was about to close, they would want the tired clerk to stay open JUST FOR THEM so that they could get their groceries faster. Because people work on their break just for fun.

Being a character's friend is one of my dream jobs, but of course the characters are only human [or mouse, dog, or duck =)] and Mary needed her break! Staying in character and saying she had to go for a spot of tea or something would have been nice, but this certainly would not have gotten Mary fired.

It's late in the evening, and maybe I'm overreacting a bit. [or maybe I just haven't been to WDW in a long time and need to laugh at some SGs. >.>] What do you folks think?

because they know EVERYTHING over there? Much much more than any CM could possibly know!! [/scarcasm]

of course, they don't think that maybe Mary was waiting to use the ladies necessary room? On needed a bit of water!

or both?

I think that maybe we need to stop hearing the crap going on over at Board X, Y or Z. If we want to read it, we can always go over.

This just helps prolong crap like the SG and her SG Jr daughter posting here and there to stoke the fire.

If I wanted to read troll crap, my ignore file would not be growing daily.

Ack, MAPO...sorry for the Board X posting in that other thread. I just thought y'all might find it interesting to hear that it's supposedly okay to give out nominal CM gifts, since everyone here has repeatedly said their supervisors wouldn't approve. My apologies for adding to the ignore file. :o:

My deepest apologies?

But what would the difference be between me saying that I saw it on Board X, or saying it had been a story a friend told me? What would your reaction have been then?

I was just sharing an SGT. I'm not that active on here, and I want to become more active. Sorry for offending you with something I thought was interesting/funny/idiotic.

Actually, in that example, the CM could have gotten in a lot of trouble. Most of the lines have hard closes (where the character attendant will stand at the back and let people know the character is leaving), so the character wouldn't just walk off. And second, the character shouldn't just go off and mention breaks (if anything, they should say sometime more pertaining to their character).

Interesting. Of course they shouldn't have mentioned their break, but I didn't know that about hard closings. I always assumed that they just told the last person that they were the last person, then they closed. Hmmm.
