Ok, reading another thread on here I was lead to a site that lead me to another site about this.

Image

The site HERE claims the person was able to unlatch their safety belt on ToT during the drop.

I have to call BS on this.

My reply on the site:
"Calling BS on this one.

The rides at Disney (and other theme parks) are designed so you can not unlatch the safety belt while the ride is in motion. On top of that, They have a fail safe that if the belt is unlatched or even cut, the ride goes into E-Stop and shuts down. So if the person were to unlatch the belt before the free fall the ride would have stopped. and if they had waited till they were in free fall to unlatch, it would have stopped. see the ToT is not actually a "free fall" ride as you would think. You are not just dropped down the shaft. Your car is still connected to the cables and is actually being pulled down by a cable under the car so you "drop" faster then gravity. This also allows the rides system to e-stop when needed during the drop.

So I commend you on a great photo shop job, but this is in fact a fake. :) "

Discuss. :)

Yeah I've seen that too. It is pretty real looking. On top of all the safety systems monitoring the seatbelt locks, the ride has a camera looking at you the entire time you're dropping that is actively being watched at all times by cast members. Even if they were to get out of the seatbelt, the cast member were to have seen that and Estopped the ride.

Here is a real clue to tell if it's fake: The camera doesn't take a picture when you drop but while you are sitting still... Duh.

Yup. You drop about a foot for that first picture, just to give you enough to start reacting. The only way that picture would work would be if the person was quite literally hanging from the ceiling...

Definitely a fake.

Fakity fake fake, fake fake!

Not only are there failsafes, and not only would he get kicked out if he got around them, but the others on the ride would be Tweeting their butts off about the idiot in the elevator with them.

Nice fake, the ladies arm doesn't look right though  If they did this as claimed at DCA, they still would have a hard time ever getting back in the park seeing they would have had Anaheim PD trespass him, and also TOT would have been closed to determine how he did it, yet I have not heard reports of it being closed. :p:

As I mentioned in another thread on another site, the light and shading imbalances are the dead giveaways that this image has been photoshopped, the hanging guest added at a later date.

Anyone else consider the amount of injury the guy would have sustained if this had actually happened. I am sure he would have had broken something and maybe a concussion when he hit the top of the elevator and then slammed back down into the seats.
