Stupid Guest Tricks

It's pretty much been my dream for the past two years or so to work at the Disney park in Florida... even after lurking around this site for a while, I'm still not discouraged. I'm proud to say that I've never been an SG, but I've witnessed some pretty SG moments during my visits. I really wish I had some original stories to tell, but most of the things I've seen have already been told.
If anything I'm looking more foreward to working there, because I'll be able to meet a lot of cool people who are on this site... and I think I can handle a lot of these situations without shooting myself in the foot, but with some semblance of dignity, haha.

Hi Jane! Sounds like you have the right attitude. Fear not, from what most people say here, the good of working for the Mouse far outweighs the bad. (And when the bad hits, you'll have a story to share here!)

Keep us posted if and when you take the plunge -- there are many of us who also dream of working for Disney but are geographically- or situationally-challenged, so we live vicariously through our friends here who do.

I know exactly how you feel. I've been living here since Sept of 2008 and this week I will be going to fill out my paperwork for full time job at WDW!!!

I know about the SG's, I know about the pay, and I know about the crummy hours....but in my heart I also know that this is my passion and that this is the place I have waited my whole life to work.

I hope you join me soon!!

I work part time on weekends to have fun, relax, and get a little extra spending cash, not to mention the park perks like admission and discounts. You do have to remember that Disney is a business, so you must respect that. But if you are lucky enough to get a position interacting with guests, your job is to make magic. And if you treat your fellow cast members the way you treat guests, you will have a great time! But then some SG or manager will come along to try to spoil your day, and it will only happen if you let it.

I have a lot of respect for my fellow CMs who are full time: they work a lot of hours and the pay is not great. If they don't smile as much backstage I understand. I feel it is part of my job to help them have a great day as well, so I stay 'on' from the moment I board the bus at West Clock until get back there later in the day.

Good luck! Always look for the magic in everything you do! And then come back here to vent and get a laugh when the magic gets hard to find!

I'm not worried about the hours and pay, I have no one to support except myself and I want to work for the work, not for the money. ;)

Welcome! I'm a fairly new poster myself. A long time Disney-ophile, with a particular love for the parks. While I am too far away to visit Disneyland on a regular basis, it just makes my trips there all the more special. It is my Mecca, and when I'm there, my disbelief is fully suspended, and my veins course full of pixie dust. Thus, it would blow the whole mood to act like an SG. In any case, once again welcome.

Hmm...I wonder if the marsupial grand welcome is just for the ladies, or everyone?

Oh No, dear PatchOBlack, did you not get an official welcome from the Marsupials? They do not discriminate and if they have been remiss, I'm sure at least one of them will be along to welcome you with banners and signs and purple things.
