A clear case of, "my life is soooo much more important than your life and you should accommodate my every need." I am a very accommodating person, but sometimes it is time to say no. I think we were having a bullying discussion earlier in the week. I wonder where kids learn this bullying behavior? (Said sarcastically)

Tropical Storm Flossie will be paying a visit on Monday. Currently, it should pass over the Big Island about noon Monday. Winds are diminishing but it looks like we'll get a lotta rain and winds in the 40 to 50 mph range.

For us, this is the first time a storm has gotten this far north in the ten years we've lived on Maui.

Time to toss the patio set in the pool.

Didn't the storm do that for you?

If we'd left them out the storm would have tossed them into the pool down the street.

We had winds at about 40 mph, lotsa lighting and about two inches of rain in three hours. Basically nothing compared to what Florida gets hit with multiple times every year.

At least in Florida there's somewhere to run if you have to. You guys are stuck on an island with nowhere to go to get away from the storm itself. You can't exactly hit the road and get the hell out of Dodge before the storm hits there.

Not that I've ever was much of a runner for storms anyway.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Never thought about it that way. You're right. None of the news alerts ever broach the subject about getting off the island. If they did there'd probably be rioting at the airport.

We do have a store room that's built into the side of the hill. If it really got bad we'd hole up there.

I'm guessing the shallow end to make it easier to fish it out later.

When I was a kid growing up in Miami, Dad used to bring the slide into the house (the swingset was anchored in cement in the ground). We kids thought it was pretty fun to be able to slide in the house. I guess we didn't have enough on the screen porch to worry about.

Throwing stuff in the pool is not something we generally do here in the Northeast, but I have seen storms that did it for us. Of course, things always seem to blow into the deep end...

Is that because your pools freeze?
