Never Again!!!

...will be any where near WDW the week of Christmas.
I've been there 2 weeks before, the week after, but this is my first and last time there the week of Christmas and Christmas day...as a Guest that is.
Anyway, I spent the last 10 days in Florida. It was great to get out of the CT cold for a while and take some time to explore my new work area! :)
While I was at WDW, I got to meet some of the Transportation managers. I met one from Watercraft ops, and another from Rails. I just can't believe how open & welcoming the Disney leaders are, especially to someone like me. I can't wait for my CP to start. Hoping to get Monorails. :D:
Also, I had the opportunity to walk around a bit with Big Wallaby, where I got to meet Little Wallaby, as well as some other Rails CM's. Again, I can't wait for my CP...I leave here just 6 days! :D:
On my second day there I was going to meet up with some family at DHS for lunch. Quite an interesting bus ride to say the least. The bus was packed. On World Drive just past the MK parking plaza, a deer runs into the road. The driver slows a bit, and the deer clears our lane and walks into the left shoulder. Then, just as we were passing the deer, it runs right in front of the bus, and BANG! Sorry Bambi! But I do have to say that our driver handled the situation VERY well. It was good judgement on his part not to slam on the brakes because everyone standing would have gone through the windshield, so what it came down to was it's either us or the deer. Just seeing the amount of damage a deer will do to a car, it's amazing to put in into perspective and see how much momentum a bus has. When we hit the deer, you couldn't even feel the impact, just a loud crash. A deer is to a squirrel as a bus is to a car. But nobody was hurt, and in about 5min there were managers on the scene and within about 15min we had a new bus there to pick us up.
Being the week of Christmas, I didn't see too many Stupid Guest Tricks. I was surprised. But I did see a whole family go up the exit ramp at the MK monorail station. Also at the station, a group of kids asked the pilot for the front, but had to turn them down. After they board, this younger couple squeezes between the gates, opens the door to the front cab and sits down, even though they saw the group of kids being told by the pilot that they aren't loading the front cabs.
Another thing that I saw that I just can't help but smile at. I keep seeing DME tags on carry-on luggage!
I also banned a few SG's from the monorails...for their own safety. I heard things like "just last week the monorails crashed and they needed firetrucks to get everyone out" or "a few days ago a monorail crashed and fell off the track and everyone died". So if they are that concerned about the monorail system then they can find another way to get to where they are going as far as I'm concerned.
Anyway, that was my last trip to WDW...as a guest that is. I start my CP on Jan 6th. I can't wait to get away from a New England winter. I couldn't have asked for a better roommate either for the CP. And getting to know a few of the managers and several Cast Members...it's going to be great. 2010 is going to be an awesome year. I just know it.
Wishing you all an amazing 2010! :)
