Goin to Disneyland for the first time in 2 weeks!
I've been to WDW countless times, but Disneyland?! Never been!!! Cannot wait!!! The original home of Walt!! Any pointers you guys can offer??
Being a huge HM fan, I'm actually a bit upset that I wont be riding the HM, rather the nightmare mansion, which is cool... but still.... lol I'm going to miss those singing busts. The singing pumpkins just wont cut it...
I'm already going there with the attitude of the park being significantly smaller than MK at WDW, so that wont be an upset. lol Anything else I may not already know would be helpful.
Thanks guys!

Re: Goin to Disneyland for the first time in 2 weeks!
I find Disneyland doesn't so much feel smaller as it feels narrower. From Main Street to queue lines, things are just not as broad as WDW.
Well, okay, they do have a bad case of "Honey I Shrunk the Castle".
The biggest thing I notice about the Mother Park is that the quality of guest is different. Partly it's just L.A., partly it's the higher percentage of locals (2/3 rather than 1/3, to some reports), and partly it's the cultural mix. Coming from Northern European stock, I have a fairly large personal space. Too many times when my wife and I were standing close to each other in conversation, others would walk between us -- not as a SGT, they just didn't think we were together.
Not all bad though, we started holding hands to avoid getting separated and managed to clothesline a few of the inattentive ones!
The quality of SGTs are different, too. Far fewer folks will hop fences into hazardous areas than at WDW (in my observation -- I'm sure some Disneylanders will disagree). But while the guests seem to know the presence of such safety limits, they'll trample all over you in other ways. Had to speak sharply to several a day about poking my ass in queues.
"If you want to poke my ass again, you'll have to buy me dinner first!" seemed to get most to stop.
On the good side, look at the details, the layering of them especially, along with the deeper history of the park. Simple things, like the original Fantasyland rides that have a small downramp in their queue because the courtyard paving was raised in 1983.
But I encourage you to forget all that to the degree you can, and just simply enjoy!
... then come back and tell us about all the SGTs.

And then there are the ones that will play with it, "Have anywhere specific in mind? What time should I pick you up?" :twisted:Zazu wrote:"If you want to poke my ass again, you'll have to buy me dinner first!" seemed to get most to stop.

Well, Disneyland came first, therefore its castle was first, so nothing was "shrunk". ;)
It is simply Walt's original castle. :D:
But just so we're even, I'd say that WDW has a bad case of "Honey I Shrunk the Riverboat" ;)

This may seem like a no-brainer, but if you haven't already, be sure to visit Disneyland.com and take a look at the list of attractions so you have a good idea of what Disneyland has to offer.
Disneyland has a lot of unique attractions and great little gems that add to its charm.

The Castle is just the right size! No more comparing size of castles, guys! ;)
Even though our Park is "smaller", you can enjoy spending at least several days there and not be bored for a second. No High Humidity and only a few gators are around....How many days will you be there?

You might be taken up on the offer if the poker was wearing a red shirt.Zazu wrote:"If you want to poke my ass again, you'll have to buy me dinner first!" seemed to get most to stop.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Exactly! I agree. That's what I was trying to say.Main Streeter wrote:Our castle is absolutely beautiful. Walt walked inside & was thrilled with it. We wouldn't trade WDW.

Besides, its not the size of your castle,..... its how you use it!DisneyMom wrote:The Castle is just the right size! No more comparing size of castles, guys! ;)
