Bus driver question

Hi everyone. I am a long time lurker here. I love the SG stories! Anyway I am about to get my commercial license for semi trucks here in Ohio and my wife and I have been talking about relocating to Florida. I sometimes think about trying to get a job driving a bus at Disney. So I was just wondering what type of a license the Disney Bus Drivers need? Was is required to even be considered for the job? In Ohio a Class “B” with a passenger endorsement is what you need to dive a bus so I was thinking of adding that to my training just to say that I have it. But I would probably drop it if it is different down there.
Thank you for any information.
Rick

Hi tzvdmd, :welcome: Your questions can fully be answered by Cranbiz & Big Wallaby. Cranbiz is a fine bus driver @ WDW, & BW was a WDW bus driver who always has wisdom to share. If they don't see your post soon, & they will, pm them.

I hold a CDL and have been an active bus driver in Vermont. My understanding is that just about all states have a mutual requirement for Drivers. That would be a Class B, with passenger and air brake endorsement. That should be transferable to just about any state in the union.

Hope that helps.

Goofernmost is correct. Years ago the government took over the licenses for commercial drivers. There for,to wit,and forsooth all commercial drivers were standardized. At least it was when I had a CDL.

Not that I've been perusing the Disney Careers site or anything, but... according to their website, a CDL is not required to apply but will be required once hired. It does not however state whether it is a B or a C that is required.

Thanks for the help! Now to just get the class in and pass the test. Maybe I will run into some of you in a couple of years! Thanks again.

Even if you come in with a CDL, they will retrain you and retest you as though you were getting it for the first time.

It's a good training period.

Pretty much anyplace a driver works will have some sort of retraining program.

Not required probably depending on the need at the time, but I would be willing to bet that if you have one it would be like getting a fastpass to the front of the line.

I figured there would be a period of training from the company. Every place has it's own standards and methods they want the employees to follow. I have also seen the busses that say "training" on them while visiting the parks. I had always figured they were being tested to see if the driver knew the routes. That was just my SG guess though!
Thanks for the info!
