The week between Christmas and New Years is always a busy and
frantic one at the Magic Kingdom, but this year it got just a little worse
than I've ever seen or heard.
The path from Mickey's Toontown Fair to Tomorrowland runs between
the Tomorrowland Indy Speedway and the WDW Railroad tracks. It's
often quite or even deserted. Last Sunday it wasn't quite quiet and
deserted enough.
A guest took some pains to set up a bottle rocket by the path, aimed so
as to strike the WDW Railroad train at about the altitude of guests heads.
Fortunately, the miscreant failed to consider the burning time of the fuse,
so his rocket missed the rear end of the passing train -- and the
conductor standing there -- by perhaps 10 feet.
Fortunately for the perpetrator, despite a half-hour shutdown and search,
we did not succeed in capturing him and making an arrest (or worse).
We did, however, come to understand that the new USA Patriot Act
makes it a federal offense to "posses with intent to use explosives in a
public place." We're hoping the penalty would include a few years of
service as a bug-catcher on the front of one of our locomotives.
Sorry this one isn't funny -- it wasn't funny at the time, either, but it
was stupid.

Wow
That is horrible! I can't believe anybody would be so stupid to do that at the parks...wait a second...they are guests after all! Must have read the sign, "Check your brains off property"!
