The ropes are there for a reason!

I hate when people act like we put ropes up just cuz we were bored or something... the worst is when you're on register and this happens. At one of the locations I work at a lot, there are two registers at each window... sometimes we'll only have one of those registers open so we put a rope up to prevent guests from forming two lines.
Last night was a perfect example... we had half the window open but they didn't put the rope up, so I had to keep telling guests that the ONLY line started infront of me. That doesn't help much tho, and you get real tired of repeating yourself. So I got my line down and as soon as that happened I went to hunt for the rope. Found it and put it up... but the ropes only work if they STAY up and aren't removed by stupid guests. I had to go out and put it back THREE times.
Honestly... how much common sense does it take to realize I have the rope there for a reason, and that reason is NOT for you to take it down and try to form a second line?

Ohhh boy could I go on and on about this one.
Yes the ropes are there for a reason. Actually a couple of reasons. One of the reasons we have them up at the Stroller Shop is to separate the guests from the pit where we hand out the strollers. Well some stupid people take it upon themselves to climb over those ropes to use our trash can or whatever. Sometimes when it's busy we throw the strollers from the back room into the pit and more than once I've nearly hit guests who shouldn't have been in the pit in the first place. :throw:
Another reason is to mark off our queue (yes, that is the correct spelling). Ropes are NOT there to sit on!! It's not uncommon for our ropes to break because of people sitting on them and we have had a few CFA runs because of people falling as a result of sitting on the ropes. One time I saw a kid sit on a rope that was attached to a rollaway and fall down, got back up and just sat on another one. Don't people ever learn?! :bang:
Ropes are also not there to jump over like hurdles!! We've had a couple of CFA runs for kids who thought they'd be cool and jump over the ropes, only to trip and fall flat on their face.

Forget the ropes I had full on railings in my resturant. Did anyone ever use them? NO! Guest would come in through the exits even though they were clearly marked. Argh!!

At attractions we use rops and sometimes roll away stanchons for the extened queues when we are busy. Frequently guests will just jump over the rops because they wanted to get to whereever the queue was going. Several times I would ask the guest if they even knew where they were going, and most of the time they didn't know where the queue was going. Sometimes they would even leave the queue after I told them where it was going. On a side note I wonder how these people think that the rope will hold their weight when it's under an inch in diameter.

I always laugh when people fall from sitting or jumping over the ropes. Most the people who do that deserve it anyway.

We had such a problem on Indy of people hurting themselves at Rope Drop racing for the attraction, and tangling themselves up in the queue ropes.
So one of the GC leads had a sign made that said "Indiana Jones Adventure" on it, and I stood in front of Rope Drop with that sign, telling people that if they did not follow me slowly through the line, they'd be sent to the back. It really did help slow them down, and fill up the queue nicely.
And on nice busy days, I would walk really slowly to give the RO's more time before opening. ;)

We used to have a spiel "For your safety please do not sit or stand on the handrails, they will break, you will fall, we will laugh."

On Thunder our spiel was:
IF YOU CLIMB ON THE ROCKS, YOU WILL FALL AND YOU WILL DIE.

Ropes, keehee... I've had some people sit on our trash can liner holders (more commonly known as 3 liners, 6 liners, and 8 liners). They sit on them to watch the parade and the fireworks.
Now, I ask you, why whould people want to sit on things with wheels that are used for holling away trash???

The ropes are there for a reason....
I like the hundreds of arguements I have a day... Especially when guests want to go under/over our ropes and into the parade route. I have to tell them that they have to go around, then they add that it is an inconvenience that they have to walk all the way around when what they want to get to is right over there....Ummm, can you not see the giant float in the way??!? But then again, they are blind to signs.
