Intervening Guests?

After reading so many posts about a**hole guests yelling at innocent, helpless CM's, I was just wondering: has anyone seen another guest just get sick of the a**hole guest's whining and complaining and just give 'em hell? I've been thinking 'bout doing it since, while they think they wield some sort of power over CM's, they have no influence on other guests

Them: "I'm gonna get you fired!"

Me "Sorry, but I don't work here, so you have to goddamn listen to what I say, moron!"

Them:

Me: :P

I've heard that that kind of thing has happened, but I don't think I've ever seen it myself.

I've seen it happen a few times, and sometimes when I'm in the park as a guest I've done some really crazy things to some evil guests that just give the CM's hell. Since they don't know I'm a CM myself and I'm not in the park I work at it works out quite well. Although I must say that my reletives can be the worse than some of the passholes that we deal with from day to day.

I second that relatives comment... if I see mine coming, I usually dart offstage as fast as I can and get people to tell them that I'm either on break, running an errand for the managers, was sent to another location, etc... I used to just never sign family members in the same day that I have to work, and then it usually worked out fine- until half of them decided they wanted passes so they could come visit me at work any time.

I think most guests at one time or another have wanted to take the situation into their own hands, but are afraid the guest will have even less restraint against someone who is not in uniform. Not bloody likely. Another guest has several advantages over a cast member in terms of dealing with passholes:

1. Guests don't have to keep up the charade of Disney.

2.Guests can fight back, embarass the guest, and even outright attack without fear of getting fired.

3. Guests aren't stuck in one place. While cast members have to worry about the guest coming back on their shift, guests can simply leave.

I usually don't intervene (hey, I don't want to be yelled at as much as the next guy; plus people who are angry can turn to violence when someone else intervenes).

But I do apologise to the CM, and try to let him/her know that not all guests are obnoxious, rude assholes.

CMs, I Got Your Back!

I have told other dumb guests to chill out several times. I was in the gift shop accross from Indy and some lady was having a meltdown at the CM behind the register. She was freaking out about the price of a t-shirt. I told her that the CM doesn't make the prices, and she could either buy it, or move on. The lady started to yell at me and turn around to face me, but when she did, she saw that I was 6'3 and not an employee, so all bets were off. She huffed and puffed and waddled off. The CM waited until she left and smiled.

My whole thing is, people all need respect, and it isn't the CMs fault that a shirt is expensive. Most things are pricey at DLR, but that is life, and we go anyway.

All I ask is that you guys keep a little hope up. There are lots of us out there that think you guys kick ass, and DLR wouldn't be the same without you. Maybe we should create a secret handshake or pin that identifies us as your posse so you know you have some help. After all, how can an angry guest punish me? Make me ride IASW??

If anal guest is harassing a CM or just being super ultra retarded, I'll spin around and tell them to shut the hell up very nicely. Usually does the trick. Either they'll shut up or start verbally attacking me. If they start attacking me, I just laugh at them. So sad they're spending so much energy on something like me. Ha ha ha!
