Chef Boyardee. a pop icon. I love his food. his first product was spagetti sauce, people loved it when ever they ate at his restaurant. then he sold to a company and retired. and the rest is history.

Rest In Peace Chef Ettore Boiardi
thank you for making our world a better place.

Huh. I never knew there was a real person behind the brand -- although I always wondered about the brand name's origin.

yes, he was real. put his name as Boyardee on the labels because no one could pronounce his name with the proper spelling.

Nope, Betty Crocker was originally like Dear Abby for cooks. When the company decided to put a face to the fictional name--Betty was popular then--they created a picture of what they felt a typical homemaker looked like. When I saw the pictures of the Bettys through the company's history, I thought the first Betty looked like she was ready to bite somebody's head off. Over the years, they've tried to incorporate features of ethnic types, so the current Betty looks a little bit Hispanic.

and for 5 points, how many times has Betty's image been updated?
side note:
the company still gets love letters and marriage proposals to her to this day.
oh baby, show me your muffins... hmm, blueberry!

Ah, yes... I fondly remember playing on the kitchen floor as a baby while my Aunt Jemimah made pancakes...

If you take the Betty Crocker walnut chocolate chip cookie mix and add Hershey's mint chocolate chips, you have a killer cookie. ;)

There has to be a more efficient way to kill people than with cookies.
