The Hornbill and the Knife

Well, it's less than a month away, so I suppose it's time for me to add my own float the electronic pity parade here:
I've been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and am scheduled for surgery on the 25th of this month.
My father had it, so I was watching my PSA carefully, and thus caught it very early (stage T1c if that means anything to you). I've opted for robotic laproscopic surgery, and not just because it sounds so cool, though that did help. My surgeon has twice the success rate of the national average, so I'm good with that.
Besides, how can one not love a urologist who, on the first exam, puts on one glove and says, "Drop your pants, bend over the table, and pretend it's the first weekend in June"?!?!?

Oh wow. Zazu, you will definitely be in my thoughts and prayers. I also hope that you recover from this and emerge healthy once again.

My reaction, as soon as I read this, was "OMG! That sounds AWESOME!" so I literally LOL'd when I read the next half of the sentence. :D:
So, after that, I for one feel great about this. You're going to be just fine, but you still get my thoughts and prayers and...yadda yadda...
Also, I think you automatically win one Tour De France after this, right? Isn't that how that works? :p:
For real, though: good luck with everything, keep us posted. I've no doubt you'll come through with flying colors [subtle bird reference, huh?] and I also have no doubt that you picked exactly the right surgeon. He sounds like a real mensch and I'm glad you found him. Once again, good luck, buddy, even though I feel sure that you don't need it.

Definitely rooting for you.
I am glad, if it has to happen at all, that this is happening to you now and not ten years ago, what with all the advances in medicine and especially in that area of medicine (and I don't mean bodily area).
Why can't all doctors have your doctor's sense of humor? And how many people do you think he has offended because they didn't appreciate an awesome sense of humor?

Rooting?

Really? Not exactly with a guy that's going to get robotic laproscopic surgery might need to hear.
Zazu, I'm
CHEERING for you. My father-in-law did 45 days of radiation for his prostate and WALKED to treatment at Emory hospital. It's up hill both ways from his house. I know you'll do fine.

Robotic Laparoscopic Surgery- makes me think of :wall-e:
Of course, your robot may have a different acronym :p:
Wishes for a quick recovery with little discomfort :) Pain meds are your friend....

The good news about prostrate cancer is many men die with it but not because of it.
Good luck and take pictures.
