maybe because it was friday the 13th...

...but people were awfully interesting yesterday.

my roommate jaime and i went up to DL and DCA for the day, arriving at 11am and leaving at closing. it was SO crowded! like, holy frijoles, so many youth groups and spring vacationers, i'm assuming.

anywho, first instance: at ToT, for the seating assignments, two asian [thinking phillipino] girls were assigned to 6, and we were assigned to 6 also. instead of walking tot he front, the girls stand on the last 6 together. we shrug and walk past them and stand on the front 6. as we went in, the girls hurried past us and sat where we were headed, weirding out the CM. then one of them insisted on taking jaime's seat belt. the CM had to give an impromptu lesson on "left to right". as we left, the girls ran in front of us crashing into the poor CM. not really stupid, but awfully obtuse.

second instance: i introduced the aladdin musical show to jaime. waiting to get in, this little girl was looking over her father's shoulder with her hand extended, like she wanted to touch my headband. i didn't notice, until jaime burst out in laughter that this little girl's hand is reaching as hard as possible to touch my head. once i notice, i love kids, so i started talking to her, [asking her how old she is, if she's having fun, mother's maiden name, SS#, usual stuff] she's giggling as jaime and i are entertaining her. the mom sees, pulls her daughter off the husband and immediately checks her kid's hands and gives us the evilest eye ever.
i can understand the mom's position, but hey, jaime and i are clearly child molestors. evil ones.

third, fourth, nth... instance: i have a little winnie the pooh charm on my cell. if i have it in my pocket the charm hands out near my hip. i have learned, this is the cat toy for kids. every 5 and under child i stood near went straight for my cell phone. lots of apologies from parents.

other stuff:
-what i thought was a teenage boy with spiked hair [was totally pulling all the chains on space mountain line so that they swing and whack everyone] turned out to be a 30+ woman. started making out with her girlfriend. it was a 45 min wait... but find something else to do.
-there should be a section of "dads with daughters on shoulders" for fireworks. it is awfully sweet, but no one is 8 feet tall like them...
-SO many people ask the CM in front if the line is ACTUALLY 35 minutes when the sign says 35 minutes.
-are wheelchairs cheaper than strollers? i saw multiple wheelchairs with 3-4 kids piled in it.
-Guest Control was so nice. is anyone knows a tim at GC, he's sweet.
-when does peter pan have the lowest wait time?
-the fireworks were amazing, i'm going to miss them.

it was a great trip, but i'm only hitting the tip with my descriptions above. i guess it's the beginning of the spring break crowd... good luck for the next few weeks!

btw, i know i disappeared for a... while. school/life has been busy and hectic, so i'll try and stop by more often, i really do enjoy these forums. :D:

$12 per stroller and a single stroller for two days is $22. It is cheaper to pile all the tots in a wheelchair.

I met the same couple on the tram. She chucked her kid over the seat to dad and said she did not want the kid talking to strangers. they are out in force it seems, freaky parents.

It is alright for mom to freak out and delouse her kid after it touches you.
It is wrong and freaking out guests if you scream EKK THAT KID POKED ME.

go figure the attitude of parents in parks.

Sounds like a typical day at SG central!

I am suprised about the W/C as usually the CM's will put a stop to it.

it sounds like you still had fun, despite the SG's!!

i didn't say this in the first post, but i love kids, i nanny for a little girl who has autism and she has the same fascination with the pooh charm. she'll sit next to me on the couch for 30 minutes, just examining it. i'm also a daycare teacher over the summer.

when the mom pulled the little girl away, she checked the girls hands and purelled them. oh well.

yeah, i'd never noticed the wheelchairs piled with kids before so much. i think it was brought up in the forums before that one kid could geniuinely need it and a sibling joined in, but that seems like a fairly rare instance...

sgs are just part of the experience. hilarious, really. we had an amazing time. 19 attractions in 13 hours. and it was the first time i'd been in sleeping beauty castle and the house of the future, and i got to introduce jaime to the aladdin musical, fireworks, and fastpass tricks of the trade.

and for the first time in my life, as i was getting out of splash, the cm asked me if i wanted to ride a few more times without getting out. <3<3<3

I HATE parents like that. HATE, HATE, HATE them. So freaking overprotective and rude to anyone whom they think is being a "threat" to their child. And it always involves something obviously very innocent that they mistakenly think is a threat.

If you don't want anyone to know that your kid exsists, why take them to Disneyland?! I can understand parents who don't want their kids abducted, but they could at least be discreet about it. Making a big scene about someone talking to your kid is annoying, but not as bad as being thought of as a criminal *before you even enter a shop.* A couple of my friends were in one of those Chinese import shops once, and the shopkeeper was pointing a ninja sword at them almost the entire time! And when they asked what one of the chinese characters meant, he said, "Too much!" Kill the customers and tell them not to shop in your store...that's a good buisiness plan!

We were standing in line waiting to get some ice cream and reading the menu sign. Next to us was a mother and son. I asked him, "What do you recommend?"

He gave me the oh oh, are you the dangerous stranger look. I said, "I bet you're a sprinkles kinda guy."

That did it. He got a big smile and told he was going to get sprinkles and a couple of other toppings and what flavor ice cream was the best. His mom got a real kick out of his recommendation which goes to show not all parents are knee jerk bozos.

I tried what the kid recommended. It was good!

Our stranger rule with the kiddos was that they weren't allowed to talk to strangers unless Mom or Dad was with them. If we were there, then it was not only all right, but rude to not reply. And if Mom or Dad was not there, then they were to say, "I'm sorry, I'm not allowed to talk to strangers" and then beat it out of there.

My little cousins have almost the same rule... no talking to strangers unless they are with a "Safe Side Adult." It's based on some video. It's cool tho, because they have a list of "Safe Side Adults" in addition to their parents, like their grandparents, aunts, uncles, their school teachers, and due to the age difference, also myself. *Is proud to be a safe side adult.*

My FATHER on the other hand is every bit as, if not MORE protective than the mother in your story... to an ABSURD degree. There was one time I was in Church with him, and during the "Our Father" where we all link hands, I was on the end of our family he realized I had my hand out to a stranger, the next person in the pew, and jerked on my arm, HARD, when he went to take my hand, pulling me towards him and away from the stranger. After church in the car, I laid into him for it... and he's all "You don't hold hands with strange men," and I'm all "It's the Lords Prayer, you hold hands with whomever is next to you, and you've NO RIGHT to YANK on my arm like that." Disrespectful for a kid, right? I was 21.

*Shakes Head.*

One of my friends works in ODV. She said that Fantasyland was beyond packed. She told me not to come to the park. I stayed at home with that warning.
