Stupid Guest Tricks

I must start off with the Disclaimer that their is a fine line between what a Cast Member is by definition and what is in reality.

If you know Big Walliby you can ask him his opinion because we usually talk about this at length at work....



In my almost 1.5 years with the company, I have come across some truely amazing people at this company. People that I strive to be more like when it come to the service basics. One that comes to mind is a guy named John in T-Land. I first met this guy while doing PAC on Main Street for New Years 2007/2008. I saw this guy having fun with kids, blowing bubbles, heck... even wore a clone nose to work. When I transfered into T-Land, I got to know this guy.. and He is truely what Walt wanted in a CM. He played the part of a CM on stage.. but also while backstage... at the grocery store, at McDonalds... you name it he was in Char. 24/7.

I think of him as a mentor when it come to the Basics. Walliby will tell you that when I am in my zone.. I snort Pixie Dust ( See his disclaimer below ) just after a smoke a whole bag of it. I am, In my opinion a Cast Member in the truest of meanings, as is Walliby. But to this date I have met many cast members that make me wounder what Casting was smoking when they hired these guys.

I work with several of thses types. They will walk off to the most remote of spots in their "zone" and do as little as possable. When they are driving guests in the MonoRail, they will not talk to the guests, they always have a soured look on their face. I question the need for people like this in this company. Do our guests really deserve people like them.

Their is a MK custodial that is also a Cast Member to the truest meaning. Salvidor will go to the nearest entry point to an area when he is assigend to do small tasks and great every as they enter. He has been recognized by the Basics Team with a Tunnel poster of him in what he does best. This is inportant to me, because we have so many in custodial that just dont give a crap about anything. I dont want to beat up on anyone group, but the Hatians are 99% the most anti guest friendly people i have ever met.

With all this in mind.... I have decided that I am going to start a blog on how to be a cast member. When I get this started I would love to have your feedback on what I have to say.

I don't snort Pixie Dust, but my husband says that I have Pixie Dust on the brain... I try to help wherever I can whatever location I am working in in Foods at Disneyland.

I'll spot someone with one of the buttons on, congratulate them on their wedding/anniversary. If I am not busy and I see someone has a birthday button on, I'll go over to where they are, and sing Happy Birthday to them, either the traditional version or one line of the Birthday Song they play at Plaza Inn...

My husband also says that the pixie dust on my brain is coming out my ears. :D:

I agree with your post. And I would love to read your blog when it goes up.

What is a Cast Member? That's easy!

It's a person working for the ra. . . Mouse, that creates magic for the tour. . . guests.

And when they screw up. Better damn well believe they run here to laugh at the fool then wait for replies of others laughing at the fool with them.

For me a CM is someone like Mark who talked with me and got me through a rough time when Calvin was being an SG.

CM is not just a job but a person who makes the day special and at Nemo boy were they very nice to me.

I can't wait to read the blog!

I think I've told this story before, but there was a CM who was talking to some guests about how he and his roommate enjoyed their jobs and how great it was to be able to interact with the guests while working at Walt Disney World. I believe he was in the college program. His roommate was a monorail pilot, and he was emptying trash cans.

I can't wait until my salary no longer needs to be at the level it is today and I can move down to Orlando. The job I would really like to do doesn't involve as much guest interaction as I'd like, but it would at least combine two of my interests :)

You stuck me in a cab with him on purpose!!!! And yes, if that is the guy you are talking about, I think he should go drive a bus where they encourage that behavior.
Speaking of... I rode a bus for the first time in a while from TTC to MGM and it was reminiscent of that time I spent accidentally locked in a dark closet. I walked back to MK it was so bad. (Ok, a bit of exaggeration, but I did walk from American Idol all the way to the Epcot monorail station.)
