Stupid Guest Tricks

Hi Everyone...I have a question that pertains to current WDW employees.

I was reading through the Role Checklist for the WDWCP since that I'm shooting for Spring Advantage 2010. I noticed that many if not all roles included standing for extended periods.

I have a medical condition with my foot that may be bothered by that, however seldom. I can stand for 3hrs or so with no problem. If my foot becomes bothered, all I need to do is sit down for around 10min to take my weight off of it. 90% of the time I'm OK but I have my days. Some days I can only go 3hrs and others I'm feeling good and I can go all day without a sitting break.

Now here's my question for the current CMs...at the bottom of the document it says something about being able to "perform the roles with or without a reasonable accommodation." In this situation, what would be a reasonable accommodation? Does anybody know of similar conditions where special accommodations have been made?

At Disney, you should get a break every two hours, except in extreme circumstances. I think I've gone past the two hour mark only a few times.

The other thing, once you start drive training, you'll get to drive and that breaks up your standing time even more.

Thanks - that's what I figured with the driving. Speaking of which, how often to drivers rotate? Is there a system in place?

That's assuming you get into Monorails.

In merchandise breaks are around every 2.5-3 hours on average but I've had breaks come up to 4 hours apart before. How long between breaks depends mostly on how long your shift is and how well staffed your area is that day.

On a normal 8 hour shift you get two 30 minute breaks, the first coming about 2.5 hours in and the second 2.5 hours after you get back from the first one. On a 9 hour 45 minute shift you still only get two breaks so they come a good bit farther apart. If your area is short-handed breaks come farther apart as there just isn't the cast available to get the breaks out on time.

In attractions for an eight hour shift it tends to be three breaks, 15-30-15.

And I will lean on things and sometime hold one foot up for a while. Also you can go to Health Services and get a physical restriction put on your profile. I have a few restrictions on mine, such as no kneeling or squatting and a 15 pound lifting limit.

Thanks everyone - it's reassuring to know that there is a way to break up the standing time, weather I land Monorails :D: or something else in the CP.

But it would probabaly be best to get a physical restriction put on my profile just to be safe, which is what I'll do.

Please be careful with health services. They screwed me over big time so be careful in what you tell them...

In reguards to Health Services... It is true that you have to be carefullwhat you tell them. you have to be able to prove that the injury or medical limitation will in no way affect you doing any job on property.

With that said... I know of a couple of Monorail Pilots that have restrictions on file that state that they can lien as needed to relieve stress and pressure from joints and their back.


Each area, weather its Attractions, F/B, etc... each area is controlled via a seperate contract when it comes to breaks, and how their are delt out.

Comming from experiance... I am a m jack of all trades in the park.... I am trained in Attractions, Parade AC, Theater AC, Fireworks AC, Monorails, CARTS, F/B, Merch, Out Door Foods.... they all will screw you diffrently with breaks.....
