Three Indiana Jones [Show] Incidents

These did not happen all on the same day, but each happened on days we were extremely crowded. Normally on an uncrowded day we will let people into the theater as much as ten minutes after the show actually starts. On crowded days, when we have all 2,000 seats filled and 150-200 people standing in the back we will close off access as much as 10-15 minutes prior to the show.

First was a story I had only heard rumors of before. We had closed for the 4:20 show and I was one of the people in the Greeter position completely outside the queue area. This man comes up with his family and says they have to get into the show. I tell him hang around and in about 15 minutes we will open up the queue for the 5:30 show. He said that they could not do the 5:20 show as they had to leave the park a little after 5:00 to go to the airport. I did not laugh at him (but was tempted), however I said that if it was so important he should have caught one of the four earlier shows or even been at the entrance a half hour earlier when we had started to load in.

Second was a show when I was a packer. The job is to get people to move as close together as possible toward the center of the theater so we can fit more people onto the benches. I had a guy who was trying to save seven seats around row three center for people who were not yet in the theater, but who "will be here soon". I told him he could not save seats and announced to the others in the row that we would be closing the entry soon and please fill in all available space, which they did. I invited him to look at my nametag and report me for doing my job to one of the managers at the top of the theater. He ended up going to another section where I think he again tried to save spaces, but I went up to one of the coordinators and pointed him out, and the coordinator again told him he could not save seats.

The funniest was a group of about 12 who decided to sit on the stairs near one of the large pillars. Of course this is a fire code violation. When I went to tell they they would have to move they immediately went onto a "no comprende" mode. So since they could not speak English, I started berating them in agitated German. Saying such things as Das ist Verboten (that is forbidden) and Raus! Gehen sie raus. Schnell! (Leave. Leave from here. Fast.) and repeated myself a bit with a lot of arm waving. They got the point. And when I relayed what I had done to some of the other people all the CMs got a good laugh.

Dang! People get so crazy at shows!

As for the first example, I get that one all the time with the characters when the line has been closed. I sometimes feel like saying "I'm sorry, but if you really wanted to see _____, you should make that your first priority and not wait til the last second".

A few summers ago, there was a problem with one of the showings of Fantasmic. Some SG got out of control and lit a trash can on fire. that lead to an out of control crowd. The SG who started this problem was arrested for lighting a trash can on fire and a riot on private property.

I think all that German should qualify you to be IN the show. Good job.
