Stupid Guest Tricks

Due to a high and rapidly rising PSA, I get to have a prostate biopsy tomorrow. Comments from medical types and fellow patients are solicited. Please save any expression of sympathy until I get the results.

Not to worry, they have come a long way in making you comfortable during the test.

I see I was inadequately explicit. My curiosity was more about the alternatives of local or general anesthesia (which my physician joked I could decide upon after hearing the screams of prior clients), and post-procedure symptoms.

Yeah, he's a comic. At the first exam, he invited me to bend over an pretend it's "red shirt day at the Park". Perhaps my wearing "Tigger" shorts was ill advised.

I'm aware of (and thankful for) the slow speed of prostate cancer; my father has it, but has been told that something else will most certainly get him first.

My Dad died of prostrate cancer. He quit smoking in 1962 at about age 46. Early treatment is important. It depend on how you react to anethesia and how tough your are. I am a big baby so I would go with anesthesia, lol.

I send you my deepest sympathy, if not needed then pass it on to someone else.

Last exam I had, I used local. One coming up, I will probably use that again.

Thanks. That had been my inclination. I don't always do well with generals.

I will warn you that I am pretty sensitive to medications, usually about half the normal dose will suffice for me.

The team I had kept asking if I needed more, but I couldn't feel a thing.

I think that you are making a good decision. I know that if I did a general, I would probably have the "bad" after effect.
