Stupid Guest Tricks

So iwas listening to the MDP podcast that I mentioned in the AC thread......


One of the things that was said in their was how much Disney is pouring into attractions....

They stated that Disney dumped 200 million into the DLR finding nemo sub ride and went WAY beyond its budget due to all the public relatons monkeys had all ready did the publicity for it to open on a certin date that was not with in reach. from what they further said.... 200 mill on a ride that caps at 1000 an hour when ALL ride vehicles are running at full cap.

now they are about to dump 170 mill at DLR and another 170 mill at WDW for the Mermaid Dark ride that is in pre-production...


And I wounder if theis is the reason why we cant get raises......

Without competitive, innovative new attractions, you lose guests. Fewer guests = fewer profits. Fewer guests = less money to pay cast members anything, let alone give raises. More attractions, and more state of the art attractions is actually good for business. Going over budget isn't so much good for business, but beats skimping on those attractions or opening so late that you miss the guest season and cause a PR nightmare. I like to see the company spending money on new things. It's job security.

I know and I agree.. the only thing is that even Pixar is saying.... "How much did that cost??"

[font="Palatino Linotype"]i know the amount sounds staggering, but the duck pond that had been the submarine ride had not been used in over 10 yrs...it was really a mess...and they'd taken out almost all of the fish (at least the ones you could see from shore)...the next HUGE amount at dlr is going for improvements (attractions) at dca...and if anyone has been to dca i'm sure they'll agree with me that they are in desparate need of good attractions there...it opened way too soon when it opened in the first place...there's just not enough to do there for the amount of money it costs to get in...

but don't get me wrong...if there's anyone who thinks you guys (cm's...and when i say guys i mean men and women) deserve raises it's me[/font]

I'm glad that DL can spend the money on new attractions. But if I don't see a SUBSTANTIAL raise on this new contract, then the DLR will lose a lot more Main Entrance cm's than just me.

We already do more than we should for $9.05 an hour, when McD's and In 'N Out employees make $10 and over, and they have less knowledge and have less cash responsibility than I do. There is no reason why after working at the resort for almost 2 years, with knowledge in all 3 possible areas of my department, that a new hire makes the same amount of money that I do.

The new procedures for this new "birthday" celebration promotion, and the possibility from what I have heard of being able to use your AP as a "debit card" and put money on it like a gift card is going to require more training and more responsibility of each main entrance cast member, and should mandate a serious raise for any cast member having to handle those procedures on a daily basis. There will just be too much to be accountable for without an increase in pay for accepting that responsibility.

I'm sorry, guys. I'm just dreading the fact that our contract expires in March of 09, and there has been absolutely NO work done on it as far as the union has told us as recently as last week. They say they will "get to it" when they can, and they will take the new contract to Disney for approval before we even get to know what's in it, and it's frustrating. I feel we are getting the short end of the stick, especially when prices everywhere else are going up, and my check is getting smaller and smaller due to the Union.

DLR is infamous for spending on the big things like parades, fireworks, shows and new rides while failing to repair a rusting stairway, bathroom doors that pop open, painting, renovating bathrooms and other public areas, the wood rot at the tiki room, fire hazards, safety issues, and maintenance.

They should start of the the main street and renovate the whole park. I miss counting stalls in tomorrowland so I could avoid the ones that had doors that did not close. It used to be a dark place to go and not good for traffic flow.

Well considering our local union shop "loaned" your shop a huge bag of money to "help" with their lack of funding..... i dont doubt that at all....
