I don't recall ever seeing them do anything other than sign autographs and pose for pictures when out like that.

Well if Guests would just learn to interact with them, rather than treat them like picture/autograph Robots, I'm sure they would try to do things like that more often.

THat was cool as heck. Of course Meghyn spots it and says I wanna play with them at Disney. LOL Whoa, how I am gonna manage that bit of Magic I dont know?

I love interacting with the characters. We had fun with Alice last fall and told her we saw the White Rabbit out back and she was SOOOOO into character she jumped up from greeting my DD and started running off....LOL I had to tell her wait, he already ran up the hill into his hole. LOL

That is awesome! My daughter played ring around the rosies with Cinderella, Belle and Sleeping Beauty at WDW last year. They picked three girls to stick around after the photo shoot, all of them had piggie tails in their hair. I wish I had my video camera. It was truly priceless!

Alice and Mad Hatter do it everyday before the parade with Musical Chairs.

??

You mean like saying hello and trying to talk with them? (as they are on their way to what I am sure is a well deserved break?)

No, we saw some helpers that were being hounded by SG's, so much so that we took the grandkids away and took them on an attraction, as the adult SG's were too busy to let anyone else do anything.

Would it be nice to have the chacters interact with the public more?
Hell yes! But there is so much public and very few characters. Of course, when a group of people start to gather around characters, some odd ball always has the sense of entitlement that becomes more contagious then wild fire.

I look at the characters at our local park. Since they are always out interacting with the public, and that's what the public is used to, it doesn't matter to anyone if Dora, Scooby Doo or Sponge Bob, are going off shift or going for a bathroom break. There is always that "you're here, my kids here do something cute for them" expectation. And that 2 minute walk to the restroom for poor Scooby ends up being half hour. (Yes he's a dog and can use a hydrant, but there is no peeing on park grounds)

At WDW for instance, I couldn't imagine what it must feel like for the characters to be stuffed in those heavy costumes on a hot summer day, and then to be expected to spend time out in the sun for long period of time. I think that Disney has made the right choice in having deignated spots for them to interact. Even if it is a hug, autograph and photo. That just makes the family who get to experience the rare interactions more magical.

I think the main problem is that many people feel more awkward interacting with face characters. We often see photos of children (and even adults) hugging fur characters, but pictures of guests hugging face characters are much less common. (In this picture, it's a bit obvious that he isn't too sure about putting his arms around Aurora's waist, LOL. :p :)

I haven't been to any Disney park in over a decade, but I'm sure the following would make great ideas for character interaction:

1. Do the Caramelldansen with them (the Numa Numa dance is also a good choice)
2. Ask a princess (or prince, if you're a lady) to dance a waltz with you
3. Take a picture of Belle holding a textbook for an advanced subject, preferably something with the word "engineering" in it :p:
4. Sing a song with them (preferably one from their movie)

Of course, many of these take a lot of guts to pull off. :p:

#1 was Freakin' Hilarious :hysteria: I just loved Cruella's reaction
#2 Now if Jasmine had chimed in with the next verse I would have been impressed
Oh and #2 ...kid had some major balls just for the fact he was being videotaped....LOL

I will ask Belle if she has read any good books lately.
