Yes, it does say 1954. Was Sterling Holloway the voice of Winnie the Pooh? Sure sounded like it. If a jar with a screw on top was novel, makes you wonder what peanut butter came in before. I just asked mom, and she's not sure, as we didn't eat much peanut butter (before I came along--in 1954, my brother was 3 and my older sister was 2)--she thinks either cans or jars with lift-off lids like jelly jars (isn't that the same?).

No, I remember getting jelly in "glasses" that you had to "pry" off the top(needed a "church key") (the square end) and they wouldn't really re-seal very good.

BUT when the jelly was gone, you had a glass, and it usually had Disney figures on it!!

Dont remember about peanut butter coming that way. The skippy jars I remember had screw on lids, and a built in measuring cup so that after the peanut butter was gone, you had a kitchen measuring cup!(jar)

Yep, and you can still buy it that way!! DW "discovered" the Vermont Country Store!!
