I think, the filming was done properly... The person may not have known how to download the thing so that the dancer wasn't sideways.

?? Downloading a file won't invert it or otherwise change the internal settings for playback. be it MPG, AVI, WMV, and so on. You need to put it in an aftermarket or post videoing software to change it. Possibly he/she accidently hit the "flip image" arrow when editing it.
