Re: Finally, a good comeback from me
Just as feline said, many people of a certain ethic background look alike. Can one pick out various nationalities in the Asian spectrum? What about a Hispanic background? Not many people can. Heck, I'M Asian and I can't! (well, not many) I always have to guess unless the other person tells me so. So, simply saying Asian fits most people of the ethnicity. Same with the term black. Yes there are the Africans and the African Americans, African English etc. - but often the term used to describe them is black. Who here has NOT used that term? One can even say White, but then within that there is British, German, South African, Latvian, Nordic, etc.
So, use just a general broad term for the various backgrounds is much easier when you really don't know the actual heritage of the person. Why be so PC? Honestly, PC is getting so overrated these days. I been called Oriental before and apparently it is supposed to be "offensive" to Asians. *roll eyes*
Take a good lesson from this song from Avenue Q (with the help of Lilo and Stitch) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9OXHLFZvsM

Never understood that myself, actually. I think of "The Orient" and it seems like something you'd romanticize (and yes, I realize that is because it was romanticized).Sarah Magdalene wrote:PC is getting so overrated these days. But is Pirate in the Human or non-human spectrum? And where does The Doctor fit in?GRUMPY PIRATE wrote:You should just do like I do. Simplify!!

You know, that song is exactly what was going through my head as I was reading this thread...Sarah Magdalene wrote:Take a good lesson from this song from Avenue Q (with the help of Lilo and Stitch) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9OXHLFZvsM
