Have y'all seen the Studio DC Almost Live show on the Disney Channel yet? It is very cute and incorporates the muppets and the young DC stars together in a sort of modern version of the Muppet Show.

Jim Henson's son, Brian Henson, does not do the voice of Kermit. Kermit is now performed by Steve Whittmire. Steve Whittmire has been with the Muppets since the late 1970s, starting on The Muppet Show. Steve Whittmire is the voice of Rizzo the Rat, Wembley (Fraggle Rock),Sprocket (Fraggle Rock), and Bean Bunny,just to name a few.
Steve Whittmire also now does Ernie and Waldorf. When another noted Muppet performer, Richard Hunt died just a year after Jim Henson (which was 1990.), Steve Whittmire took over the voice of Beaker.
Frank Oz rarely performs if at all. Although they say it is because of Frank's director commitments, I say it is because Jim is no longer around. They had a wonderful working relationship. Look at early Sesame Street footage and the Muppet Show and you will see what I mean. It was magic. I think it is very painful for Frank to perform any of his characters without Jim. I don't remember the performer's name who now does Miss Piggy.
There is a great website called muppetcentral.com They have interviews of many of the Muppet performers and tons of archive material. There is a great interview of Steve Whittmire discussing his fears of becoming Kermit and how he overcame them.
Muppets are magic.

I got the cutest shirt last nite ay Wally World to wear to the Studios. Guess who it has on it? HEHEHE

It looks like a football jersey but in t-shirt material, grey with olive green stripes on the sleeves and Kermie is outlined with a black fuzzy stuff. Donnie was trying to fight me for it but it didnt fit him..HA! MY SHIRT! MINE! MINE! MINE!
It says something about founded '72 at the bottom. Is that meaningful at all pertaining to Kermit?

It's probably the year that Kermit was 'born' Disney does that with their characters, they put founded, whatever year for the year that they were created.

Yep. Mickey is 80 this year as he was born in 1928. Goofy was born in 1932 so we'll hopefully have some cool 80th merchandise for him in 2012 like we do this year for Mickey.

I figured that but I am lazy and dont feel like going to research anything today. TOO HOT! that and I had to do laundry this morning. YECK!

I remember The Land of Gorch on SNL, which never caught on. I would love to see what Jim Henson would have come up with if he had free rein, but it looks like Brian is carrying on with breaking new territory!
