I had this guest come up to me today and ask how much were Disney tickets. I tell him and he gets all pissed off.

"That's highway robbery! It's already 6pm. Don't they have like a half day rate or something?"

I say no, Disney does do not anything like that. That's only Knott's Berry Farm.

"What, what the hell is a Knott's? Who would want to go to a farm in Orange County? That's dumb."

I give him the huh face. I also show him the Knott's pamphlet, but he still doesn't get it.

"But where is the farm? Why this strange name? People pay to go here?"

Yes sir, it is one of the oldest attractions in CA. It was here long before Disneyland. It was a real farm a long time ago owned by the Knott family. There still are some remnants of the original farm on the property.

"Oh. But it's not a farm? If I go here, do I need to go to Disneyland?"

It's 2 totally separate places. Way different experiences. If you can, you should try both. Disney is magical and Knott's is more of the Wild West. Both are a lot of fun.

"No, I'm not wasting my money going to a farm. But are you sure you can't get me discount tickets for the evening at Disneyland?"

No sir, I'm sorry. Disneyland doesn't have that program.

"Hmm. well, thank you for nothing then. Goodbye."

Uh yeah. You're welcome. Jerk.

Wow that sounds like the epitomie of an SG...someone who is totally clueless and rude about being so clueless! What a jerk. :(

Reminds me of a story from back in 1980 when I was a ticket seller at DL when we still had ticket books. My colleague and I were greeting outside the ticket booths when a SG comes up and asks, "If we don't use all of our tickets today, do we have to pay for admission when we come back tomorrow?"

Of course we both responded "Yes", and he looks us both up and down and yells, "Crooks!" :hammer:

?? The price is the same if a movie has already started!

It just is amazing that these SG's want to have fun, but not pay like everyone else!

(of course, you could have told them to go join the military, then you could get discount tickets!)(hehehehehe)

You should have given him directions to the South Central Park where he could go on the Low Ride, use a real Uzi in Drive By Land and shop at Crack Is Us.

Is there a military discount? Does anyone know if it applies to retirees? Or should I wait until I'm comissionned and active duty?

Downtown Disney is free to get into, and you can see the fireworks from the esplanade in front of the entrance to Disneyland, Great musicians are playing at DTD and you can Pin Trade. You can walk through the Hotel and Shops and get something to eat.....
We can easily kill 4 hours there and never be bored.....
Sounds like your SG wouldn't be happy there, either.
Hope he stewed in his lonely hotel room!

There is a military discount. It is not available at DLR, though, but only at your local Morale, Welfare and Recreation(MWR) office on base. Single day tickets, while at a discount, it's not that much different--but multiple day tickets are discounted much more and probably worth the stop if you are looking for that type of ticket.

If you are not near an installation, you can contact San Diego Naval Air Station: Phone - (619) 556-2173, and they can assist you with purchasing tickets by phone with delivery by Fed Ex or Mail.

I blame the media. :p: And actually, I am serious. It seems you can hardly turn on the news lately without seeing all sorts of brilliant ways to save money. And badgering people who sell stuff is always near the top of the list. See something you want? Ask if they will sell it to you for a lesser price. Negotiate with everyone.

I don't think any of the newscasters have ever worked serving the public, or they would know what a stupid thing that is to do, to tell someone to just ask for a lower price. It gives all sorts of stupid people an opening to act like an idiot and try and badger companies into selling stuff cheapaer than what the price really is. Don't these idiots realize that no, I can't just mark stuff down for you, I would be fired? It doesn't supprise me that they are pulling the same stunt for park tickets.

I hate all the magazine articles out there that tell customers to keep insisting on getting their money back when doing a return, or something of the like. They say that if a store refuses to return something, keep asking, and ask for a manager if they say no. It happens all the time. Just yesterday I had a guy come in wearing a belt, and insisting on exchanging it because it was too big. If it was too big, why did you wear it?!? So I had to ask the manager, and of course she said yes.
