Stupid Guest Tricks

So, I was went to the parks yesterday and I was entering DL when I overheard a SG. It was a group of four young adults around late teens to early 20s. They showed their left fist to the CM at the turnstile. One of them goes, "Handstamp," and the CM responded with "Ticket?" Again, the person responded with, "Handstamp?" Then, the CM told them that they need their ticket, also, to gain re-entry. Then, one of them responded why did they need a handstamp if they needed their ticket. I was like, "DUH!!!"

And then what happened?!!!!!

I was there yesterday, too, and apparently so was turkeyham! Too bad we didn't get together!

Why not do what we did at WDW. We did away with the handstamps entirely. All we have now is the biometrics. And at the turnstiles we can see the time/date/location of the last six park entries, so if we get an "Identification Fails" message we can look and ask questions about the ticket. Also all Annual Passes and Florida Resident tickets have the person's name printed on them and we can ask for a photo ID.

That would have Disney spent money and Disney doesn't to spend any money, :)

Recently I went to Walt Disney World. I went to the Magic Kingdom back in Sept. 2007. I noticed at the entry that they scan your finger. I guess this is some sort of ID check?

I wish they would do that with the SG heads to see if there is a working brain attached. It would cut down on the slow lines.

It is a biometric check. The first time it ties your ticket to your biometric signature the rest of the time it checks your current signature against the one on file. It helps prevent the handing off of tickets.

My understanding is that it was originally put in due to rampant fraud and abuse of the hand stamps by groups. What would happen is that half the group would come in normally then one member would gather up the tickets and head out the gate, getting his hand stamped. The group had a black light to check what stamp it was and they had copies of all the stamps. The idea being that they would find out what stamp was being used that day, stamp the second half of the group with that stamp, and they would then use the original tickets to get in thus using only half the tickets actually needed to get everybody in. They have the hand stamp and the ticket so to the system the second group had already been in that day.

The system doesn't take a fingerprint, it instead measures certain points on the finger to create a biometric signature. That's why it is so important to always use the same finger and to hold the finger the same way each time. While biometrics aren't as accurate and there is a lot higher chance of two people having the same signature vs. the same finger print the chances are still low enough to work for Disney.

Yes. It's called buying tickets on 192 from a non-offical Disney ticket location and then wondering why your tickets are expired when you arrive and can't use them.

Those signs I see down that way that talk about how they buy all used tickets and what-not get to me. Expired or not chances are a ticket bought at one of those places won't get you in as the biometrics won't match up. Those people are scam artists who prey on people who don't know how Disney tickets work.
