Venting...

I am irritated at my area right now. The area is really short-staffed so I have been working 60-80 hour weeks recently. I have been so exhausted that I have had a few late clock-ins and I got my first reprimand yesterday. I was told by a manager that although I feel bad saying no to my coordinators when asked to extend or come in early they don't feel bad about giving me points/reprimands/terminating me. So now I don't feel like going above and beyond for them. If I get 4 more attendance notations I will not be allowed to train for 3 months. I am so frustrated that being a model cast member does not help me at all when it comes to these situations.

That really sucks CMGUY89. I'm really sorry to hear this. You are one of the many cast members on this site who sounds like he truly enjoys his occupation... The limited info I have read about this point system make is sound really unfair.
Stay strong!

Thanks...
I also have a condition that makes it necessary for me to get a lot of sleep and my medication makes me really drowsy so some of it was out of my control but they said that is not an excuse... thanks for nothing.

CMGuy, if there's a medical reason, then it IS a legitimate excuse, and they must, BY LAW, be made aware of it (which they apparently are as of now,) and must accommodate it. Go talk to your Shop Steward.

Hmm, maybe I will. Although they did say it was my fault for agreeing to work the extra time. They said they would rather me not work as much and be on-time.

That sucks, CMGUY. Sometimes, if you know you're running (a little) late, you can call the manager and they'll change your start time. They used to have to do that a lot at Port Orleans, because the CP bus would get stuck at Typhoon Lagoon in the Cast Parking lot for up to 45 minutes. If you get the right manager, and don't do it too often, they can change your start time. Just call on your way or in the parking lot and say that you might be a little late, and ask if they can change your start time. They won't always do it, but it might save you a couple offenses.
I'm a failure at attendance too, so I definitely understand. I'm pretty sure my world is offset from the rest of the world by about 10 minutes.

Yea, go to your Shop Steward. Assuming that WDW and the DLR operate the same way, you should be able to get a Medical Restriction placed on your file. There are many people in my area who have these kinds of restrictions for every reason under the rainbow, and the company does work with and acommadate them.
Drag in a Shop Steward, and have them remind your managers of that fact. And if that doesn't work, grievance their youknowwhats  , that'll get their attention.

I've had managers do that for me twice, when I was leaving. Both times my bump out didn't come until 5-10 minutes after I was supposed to leave, even though they got the bump out 5-10 minutes BEFORE I was supposed to leave. So they changed my end time so I wouldn't get that half point.

Also, you may not want to emphasize how drowsy your meds make you... they may decide it's not safe to be letting you run heavy machinery, like a ride.
Just a thought.
